so fire is conquest pushing during shadow's annual mother's day conquest. fire would beat shadow and shadow is probably not in a place to battle after IvS anyway. I didn't see for sure but I think fire announced after shadow? so why are they doing this? an informal battle would be fun but this just kind of seems mean lol. shadow doesn't get first place often so why did fire have to pick that week?

Again? For the third time? Wow, is "hard-on against Shadow" is pre-requisite for being in Fire?

(reminder: first Fire v Shadow was also a surprise!battle for Mother's Day where Shadow had announced their plans for weeks, second Fire v Shadow was couple of years ago with another surprise!battle before NotN where Shadow also had announced their plans for weeks - both times Fire decided to battle Shadow without Shadow's input)

Wow! I had no idea it went back that far. That's super fucking weird. I'm in Fire and we were never polled on dates or whether we want to battle Shadow at all. I don't think many of us would have chosen to surprise battle them on their annual push, so I guess our dom leads really do have a hate-boner for Shadow and are dragging us along. :')

Light vs Fire 2020 also started the same way iirc, Fire decided to go for Light's pre-planned week. Allegedly they have all these "traditional" pushes but when you actually look at the dom watch archive this is what you find...

Mother's Day
2021 - Fire placed 3rd but not listed as pushing, Shadow conquested for 1st.
2020 - Fire placed 4th but not listed as pushing, Shadow conquested for 1st.
2019 - Fire didn't push, Shadow conquested for 1st.
2018 - Fire didn't push, Shadow conquested for 1st.
2017 - Fire didn't push, Shadow conquested for 1st.
2016 - They battled for it, Fire won.
2015 - Fire didn't push, Shadow conquested for 1st.

Christmas
2021 - Fire placed 2nd on a profit push, Light conquested for first.
2020 - Fire battled Light for it and lost.
2019 - Fire placed 2nd on a profit push, Earth conquested for first.
2018 - Fire battled Shadow for it and won.
2017 - Fire conquested for 1st.
2016 - Fire didn't push in December at all.
2015 - Fire battled Ice for it and lost.

This is not consistent when you compare it to other flight traditions like Valightine's, Shadow's Mother's day push, Earth's Father's day push, Water's New Years push, Decorate the Behemoth... Kinda weird that Fire only has these conquest traditions sometimes, like, when they see another flight going for it and think they can win.

They've got a Christmas push scheduled this year for the week of the 11th to 17th. Kind of interesting that they don't want to go for the week of the 18th - 24th, which is actually before Christ- oh wait, Earth is pushing that week. Fire can't ratio Earth into oblivion so they'll avoid Earth's push this year, but not Shadow's.

Idk, to me it seems disrespectful. If it happened just once it would be whatever but it's a pattern.

I feel like Fire only pulls "it's a tradition" out of their arse whenever they need to find an excuse for a surprise battle.

At this point, it really looks like a pattern. Add to it that embers weren't polled and some have expressed (I think both on here and SMR) that they'd rather not battle Shadow for Mother's Day... Not a good look for Fire Dom.

Looking at this list, it seems that Fire surprising Shadow (or other flight) with a battle is nearly more of a tradition than their Mather and Christmas' "traditions" combined...

What, are we just easy targets now? "Small flight with post-battle bank and size debuff, time to get an easy win!"

Idr who won the first time they did it, but I do know they won the NOTN fight some years back. Even if half of Fire's flight tell the orgs to stuff it I'm still not sure we inklings could win it.

Uh, Fire would win just because of the size, it doesn't even matter how ardent each flight's trainers are.
Like, shadow is something like 3 times as big as fire, which means that for each dragon fire gets through raffle/ob, shadow would need to get 3. That's rough even with oof probably skewing towards helping shadow against the perceived bullying ..

Last time Fire surprised us, we (Shadow) flipped them like crazy several times for several hours at times up until last day's evening but yeah, in the end we lost... :/

(Which is mildly hilarious when comparing with our last battle with Ice where we didn't flip at all regardless of better ratio which implies that either Ice is that much better than the so-called powerhouse Fire (likely), or spite and public perception plays that much of a role, or hib-den makes that much of a difference, or something else? idk but it's still funny for me)

I'm in Lightning and pissed off too, our battle with Wind has been listed on dom watch for weeks now and now Fire wants to start a battle with Shadow literally the week before? What the ACTUAL fuck.

Hope you like high fodder prices. That's how you get them. I suggest you guys start prehoarding fodder ASAP, as you won't get it cheap with that.

This means you have had weeks to store cheap fodder.

I don't have a horse in this race but it's been a while since there was any dom drama. I keep reading things like "Fire versus Shadow" and thinking wow, when was the last time I heard any dom drama like that?

For real. I will be sending to Shadow for sure, but this is some juicy drama lol. Much better than that drawn out, bizarre and miserable-on-both-sides Lightning drama a while back.

Honest truth, with what I've seen on the saltmine, if I was Shadow, I'd get ready for potential challenge because I'm betting some of the fire shit stirrers that are whining about how unfair this all is will probably try pushing on their own to cause issues.

Don't know if it's enough to give you trouble, but be ready for it.

i think shadow normally does a PB for the mother's day push so between the pro-shadow embers and all the other OOF support it shouldn't be an issue. also people have short memories so by the time may rolls around this will hopefully have blown over lol. it'll be funny to see how high fire places that week tho haha we can see if the whiners have remembered to do anything.

ngl with how some alleged Fire dom leaders have tried to (once again) claim that it's tradition* while at the same time they totally didn't know anything about Shadow's push while also mentioning the previous Mother's day battle, I wouldn't be too surprised if they officially say they back out now... and then surprise! We're pushing too :) Would be at about their level of sportsmanship.

*with how often they push that tradition angle I can also say that I exercise regularly because four years ago I used to go to the gym twice weekly.

Mather and the blue tundras with orange has been THE fire meme for so long, that I wouldn't say it's all that surprising to have them doing a mother's day push. If anything, it's more surprising there are/were years they DIDN'T push.

But regardless; flights are never guaranteed dom except on their festival. There's no minimum advanced warning for announcing a push, and that's already more than 3 months off from this point in time.
