Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-20 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So... What was the deal with that widespread (at least on Dom circles) information that exalting inappropriate names could get you suspended? Mouse admin cleared that up on tumblr and apparently even the "suspension message" was fake.

https://aequorin-fr.tumblr.com/post/665532369163403264/lockout-still-hasnt-been-explained-tho

I was under the impression this originated from a dom org? What the fuck is going on??
Anyone has more deets??

The source of the claim was a member of Lightning's dom team.

The only proof was the automatic form message, and a follow-up login error posted on Tumblr that says nothing about a ban(that I'm not even sure who it came from. That may have been someone else shit stirring), besides what mousemod said about it not being one of their errors.

I can confirm the login error message came from the person who claims they were suspended, a few people have seem it and while I do not believe it was them who posted about it on tumblr, the original image did come from them.
They recently tried to explain what happened, but it doesn't mention the error message at all.

Speaking without having access to further explanation:

I don't think the player lied about not being able to log in. I just don't think it was a genuine suspension. I think there was something else causing an error, and they panicked.

AYRT
It's what I assumed, at least until Aequorin said the error doesn't exist on the site.

This. Aequorin saying it's not one of FR's login error messages? Then it's a manipulated screenshot

Anyone with even a casual understanding of browsers/coding can temporarily edit a websites copy using inspect element. The screenshot doesn't sit right with me, especially after mouse mod said that it wasn't one of their error messages.

Wow, I can't believe FR staff are Sir Mix-a-lot fans.

Image

Can confirm it's not the during-maint error message or the bad username/password error message. They do, however, provide nice easy editable boxes in the style used for bad actors to manipulate.

when will mouse mod respond to THIS? cmon. this is a serious issue with the site's moderation. you other anons can't deny :/

I see what you did there and I love you for it

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

... Seriously? Admittedly, not shocked, as the one claiming the ban was listed in an image as Ava. I mean, there could be more than one Ava in Lightning Dom... But wasn't there an Ava involved in Rowan's spat with water?

I could totally see them using this lie to scare other flights out of running raffles or buy threads.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

From what I’ve heard, Ava used the wrong password too many times (from auto fill or something) and that’s what she thinks caused the error. No idea if there’s any truth to that but someone can test it out and see?

Based on what I’ve heard/seen of Ava she gives me major boomer vibes, I think she probably did think she was temp suspended. It’s a bit of a stretch to equate this to malice, imo it’s most likely her having a boomer moment or just wanting attention.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-21 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd have assumed the same, except an admin and others have said that's not one of the default error messages. I'm not wasting my time getting locked out of my account to prove or disprove it.

But considering the attempt to clarify mouse admin made, if that was a too many incorrect password entry lockout, wouldn't he have said so? He said it's not one of their errors.

See the Tumblr post here: https://aequorin-fr.tumblr.com/post/665532369163403264/lockout-still-hasnt-been-explained-tho

That's why I assume malice over boomer.

Aequorin also said this about the screenshot:
https://gimmethemprimals.tumblr.com/post/665597704499511296/i-may-or-may-not-be-a-little-perplexed-by-the-fact
(Which apparently was accidental and got deleted very fast.)

And this is the actual message for when you use the wrong password too many times:

damn, that is baffling then. why change a message like that? I'm struggling to understand why someone would be so desperate for attention. Because you can't seriously think that people will stop doing OOF things because of that, at best you just get a "hey heads up be careful" message sent out to dom folks (which seems to be what happened).

I'm in Lightning and am about at the end of my rope. I had been feeling hopeful about our dom because after the last drama we got a bunch of new leads who seem on top of things and fun (shoutout to kywren, comicsans, and ern), but what's the point if Ava/Rowan/the rest of the old guard are just going to continue to cause problems? And from what I know/what I've seen of how Ava and Rowan in particular act, there's no way they'll accept responsibility and step down unless their accounts get locked.

The most deets I can remember is that I've heard about that - that if "your" dragon is named inappropriately, you will be punished regardless who actually named them - several years ago and was told to never buy dragons with such names.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-20 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is obviously now bullshit. Mind- if you bought a dragon to keep as a perma and left it named something like Hitlersanus in your lair for months? You kind of have some blame.

But not paying to rename a fodder you quickly exalt is not banworthy.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-20 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is it not surprising that every moderation scandal that goes big turns out to be bullshit. FDS with the fake 'Spam' ban, this fake suspension, going all the way back to the big 'oh I didn't know I was distributing duplicated KS items, I totally thought these dozens of imp scrolls/fams/etc were legit and should definitely be selling for a third of the normal price'.

Like. I don't doubt that occasionally someone legit gets caught, and that sucks. But people are so super quick to believe that people are telling the truth about something that makes them look bad otherwise.

That's def a manipulated screenshot, or someone taking advantage of trying to sign in during rollover.

I've been suspended for losing my cool at someone in the forums, and like Aeq said, it's a popup. (And it's the same if you were permabanned.)

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

If you try to sign in during rollover it tells you the site is closed for maintenance and it'll be right back

I still cant believe that this whole mess was based off of one screenshot (that mouse mod says is not one of their messages). Where are the other screenshots of the conversations with staff? I've been following from the beginning and this person keeps changing their story, and there's no proof at all.

If it was enough for mouse mod to comment on it...

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-20 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't based off this single screenshot, the user DID get dragons with names that broke the site's rules and then received a message about it, you can see more about what was said on tumblr here:
https://aequorin-fr.tumblr.com/post/665518943562252288/so-apparently-someone-got-their-account-locked

The message the user received were like the ones posted here:
https://hagweeds.tumblr.com/post/665517161395142656/so-apparently-someone-got-their-account-locked

The problem is: the user then continued to insist they were suspended and even provided this fake screenshot to "prove" it, which resulted in many mass exalters getting worried about getting banned for dragons they didn't name themselves.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-22 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You also would have to do it more than once to get punished, I got a light warning once in my inbox and had dragons renamed by the staff when I mass bought a bunch of fodder and didn't realize some of them had inappropriate names because I logged off for the day immediately after. And like, the message itself tells you, don't do it again, you might get punished. They wouldn't suspend you over a one-time offense.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-22 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
from what aequorin said, the message you get when they rename your dragons isn't a warning, but just a notice that they renamed the dragons. they can tell exactly who actually did the naming. so you never actually got any kind of 'mark' or anything against your account for buying prenamed fodder, at least based off their response.

that said, i've seen the message that gets sent, and it's very confusing and easily read as a warning. they really should reword it to be more clear it's only a notice, and if you didn't name that dragon yourself, you're not at risk of suspension or actions or whatever. or better yet, if they can tell who actually named the dragon and the notice is for the unwary buyer, why mention suspensions and infractions at all? surely they can send a whole different warning to the actual person that named it.

Re: Exalt Suspension Lie?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-22 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Woah I had no idea! That message scared me back then.

Yeah, they should reword it and separate the messages like you said, a notice that they were renamed to the final owner and a warning to the namer.

It kinda irks me that they knew I wasn't the one who named them but still had the message worded like they thought I was responsible...
