That's an extremely disingenuous way of putting the argument. I firmly believe in protecting kids, but it has to be in ways that actually work, and you were asking for ID, not birth date. There are so many concerns about giving over ID, even censored ID, that you can't just ignore because of what you mean to do. You're responsible for the actual effects of what you do, not only intent.

It's so insanely gross that you're trying to paint everyone as if they don't care about minors not being exposed to sexual images, just because they think it's inappropriate to expect people to dox themselves to you personally. Holy shit... I have a lot of issues with SMR as a salt-blog but this just takes the cake. Did they delete the post themselves then to try to protect the server? I'm so curious now.

I've had issues with how they involve themselves in posts/delete posts (like this example here, because it creates an issue where people can't refer back to the post if a similar situation or a situation involving the people of that post arises - aka deprives people of that resource), and also with the influx of not-salt things they put out. I know they made a post just recently about how they'll stop with the low-quality asks but until I know what they mean by that, (besides the post they made where it was literal garbage and not the low-quality stuff I was expecting), I'll say this:

that mushroom and egg arc was annoying as fuck and caused me to not check the blog for weeks until I knew it was gone completely, it wasn't funny after a few days but it just kept going. And also, most of the scry posts are unnecessary and there are other blogs for that purpose. (yet people post on smr anyway cause they know they'll get more attention due to the higher follower count)

It just feels like the people running SMR saw that DR was dying and went, "we can make a new blog!" and didn't think about how to properly run one/think about the do's and don't's.

Anyways.. Sorry for the rant, I just... the name is saltminerising, what the fuck am I doing here looking at scries and shitty jokes. The blog is just FRD but more feral, it feels like.

Yeah... that "argument" doesn't really work in this situation. Who else am I gunna follow...? SMR posts complete dogshit but they also post actual salt so I'm forced to look at all the shit to get to the salt. And you can't necessary make your own because you need the following to back it up/get people to salt on it, which SMR was able to get from following a lot of blogs to get attention + capitalizing on DR's inactivity. I don't know if another blog can really build itself up in such a way now because they'll just think, "oh SMR is right there, why not post there instead? It has more followers anyway!"

that's your personal problem lmao. no one's forcing you to read drama blogs. the perfect drama blog that's run the way you want it to doesn't exist unless you DIY and plenty of people seem to like the mix of salt/not-salt just fine.

It can absolutely be illegal to ask for images of IDs though. Have these people not worked in anything involving sensitive information? You do need to have clear policies about storage and access for this.

This screenshot literally just proves that saltmin thinks asking for ID is legal, not that they think it's a reasonable policy. I get that it's tempting to drag the admin of a drama blog but this isn't much of a receipt.

Agreed, though I do want to point out they're also wrong. There are real instances where it's illegal to save a copy of an ID, and that's not just regarding military IDs.
