Yeah... that "argument" doesn't really work in this situation. Who else am I gunna follow...? SMR posts complete dogshit but they also post actual salt so I'm forced to look at all the shit to get to the salt. And you can't necessary make your own because you need the following to back it up/get people to salt on it, which SMR was able to get from following a lot of blogs to get attention + capitalizing on DR's inactivity. I don't know if another blog can really build itself up in such a way now because they'll just think, "oh SMR is right there, why not post there instead? It has more followers anyway!"

that's your personal problem lmao. no one's forcing you to read drama blogs. the perfect drama blog that's run the way you want it to doesn't exist unless you DIY and plenty of people seem to like the mix of salt/not-salt just fine.

i'm responding specifically to your statement that my argument that you start your own blog and that you don't have to follow SMR if you dont like it "doesn't work." it does work bc you ARE free to start your own blog or just not read SMR lol.

since you're asking me this in (presumably) good faith i will elaborate. i find this format REALLY confusing bc of all the anons and the acronyms and the people piling on me when i was originally (admittedly snarkily) suggesting someone just start their own blog (which would be welcome tbh! it's boring that AR and SMR are the only places to go) are stressing me out.

starting from this thread, i will explain the conversation as i see it:

1. the anon asks the anon they're replying to to explain their thoughts on why they dislike SMR.
2. anon #2 posts a detailed explanation of their opinion on how SMR is run, one of the major points being that they dislike the amount of not-salt.
3. i posted that i disagreed and did like the not-salt, and suggested anon #2 either not follow (if they don't like the content) or start their own blog so they can curate it as they see fit.
4. anon #2 thinks my argument "doesn't work" bc they have to wade through not-salt to read salt and bc they think they would have a hard time attracting followers to a new blog.
5. i said that the fact that they have to wade through not-salt is their own issue, meaning it's not something that invalidates my argument that they either stop reading SMR or start their own blog.
6. anon #2 thinks that i meant they shouldn't express opinions on how SMR is run (i think).
7. i said that i do think they can have opinions, but that nothing they've said invalidates my original suggestion to either stop reading or start a new blog.

Ahh okay, I understand now. Thank you! Yeah, that was a question meant to be in good faith.

I think what got me is how you said it, since you used the shrug emoji and it appeared to look really smarmy, which to me, reads like I was being talked down to. It's a common thing to say "if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself!" but in this situation, I didn't find it to be all too possible, but hey, I can and would love to be proven wrong here. I didn't see it as a simple disagreement as you explained, I saw it like you had taken my opinion of the blog personally and belittled/deflected my opinion. After all, that's typically what the goal is when someone says "don't like it don't look!" from what I can recall. It feels dismissive.

Your 5th point confuses me still... Yes, the fact that I have to wade through it is my own issue because it is my own personal opinion regarding the posts. But... I wanted the salt. So I waded through it knowing I'd have to go through the shit posts. I don't get this all-or-none principle you've got going on where I have to not look at the blog entirely if I dislike how it's run. As well, me making a salt blog to get the salt without the shit is something that I already explained would probably have a hard time getting off the ground.

I think that's why I believed you didn't like me expressing my opinions on SMR. Because you came off rather offputting in response to me, I believed that's where you were going with it cause it really did read to me like "just dont follow lol".

I just don't get why you care whether I follow SMR or not or make a new salt blog or not if I dislike SMR's content. At first I thought maybe, "oh it was just a suggestion/them trying to help you", but the way you came off really didn't feel like that, so I don't get it. If I didn't want to look at the blog at all, I wouldn't. But I wanted the salt, so I dug. I can still complain about what I'm digging through though, so I did.

I hope you feel better soon though dude, your health is much more important than internet fights with randoms. I also think that if it upsets you this much, maybe a step away from the drama blogs is required, since I used to be addicted in the past and it really ate me up so I think I can get what you're feeling. That type of toxicity can kinda spread to you and take influence, y'know?

??? No, I don't follow them - don't put words in my mouth. It was in reference to "don't follow them then", implying I have other people to follow, which is where my question came from.

I do check the blog every now and then but I'm not followed to them. Why are you so hellbent on me not liking SMR?

for the love of god people please remember that there are real humans on the other side of the screen. i legit feel like self-harming rn bc it feels like half a dozen anonymous people are dogpiling me AND totally failing to understand my original point despite anything i say which is really frustrating. fucking hell these sites get toxic af real fast.

this is one of the things i think SMR def gets right. their policy of deleting posts on request helps the mental health of people who feel like they're getting dogpiled or who feel anxious bc an anonymous person is criticizing them. it's a really thoughtful policy actually.
