dracoon is genuinely among the worst people I ever had to deal with on this website, and among the reasons I fought and broke up friendship with a good friend, who also hates their guts. (we made up by now tho, years later)
they have a brain penetrating personality, are extremely persistent and annoying, tried to constantly make me do shady shit, objectified me in worlds weirdest way and god. honestly the thought of them just exhausts me. giant dramamonger, only in for the profit.

sounds exactly like something dracoon would do, fuck them

Oh that’s a good it of information to know, thank you!

da

I agree with ayrt, so just call me grandma. But realtime chat is a very different paradigm from message-board-style communication, and I've loathed it since AIM. Doesn't bother me so much being discord-less on FR because I honestly don't want a more active role in my flight's dom activities (or even socializing, honestly), but still salty about it in general because of having been edged out of other stuff in the past because I couldn't keep up with chats.

Way to extract a batch of IDs from your AH history.

The thread about Lightning's raffle recording made me think of this, sharing in case it would help anyone. I use the following method when I need to grab bulk IDs - it's a lot of steps, but gets easier when you get in the habit of it (I use strategies like this for handling text/data in a lot of other circumstances), still faster than individually copying out each ID if you're working with many listings, and prevents skipping any or making mistakes.

(There are additional, trickier steps that can help you grab and sort additional data in bulk, I can go into them if anyone wants, this is purely to generate a list of IDs.)

First, open up your AH Recent History. Select Purchased (or Sold if you're recording your outgoings) and the quantity you want to work with.

Select the text of the listings in question. Make sure to select all of each listing, from price to the dragon's name.

Go to this website:
https://textmechanic.com/text-tools/basic-text-tools/remove-lines-containing/

Clear out the big text field and paste your data in there.

((If you've got more than 50 listings, you can go to the next page of your recent history in a separate window, copy out the data on that page, and paste it below the first chunk. Repeat as many times as you want.))

In the 'Search lines for:' field, put the character '#', then click the 'NOT CONTAINING' button. Select-all the output text and copy it.

Go to this website:
https://www.browserling.com/tools/extract-column

Paste from your clipboard into the big text field.

In the 'Column number' field, enter '2'.
In the 'Column delimiter' field, enter '#'.

Click 'Extract Column!'.

The output will be a raw list of IDs.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has simpler ideas, but this one has always worked well for me. The two websites I linked are really handy for bulk text management in general.

God yeah. Thankfully I haven't interacted with them in a long time, but I was in a discord with them a few years ago. Wholly unpleasant and I'd legit side-eye the shit they said sometimes. There was another person I'm not super keen on that they also disliked. But the way they talked about that person just went waaaaaayyy too far.

Re: best way to get blocked

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
Same tbh. I'm just not that bothered about blocking because chances are I'm never even going to interact with them yknow. Pretty much the only people I have blocked are people I have personal beef with, usually from how they've treated me or people I care about. There's like 1-2 exceptions but I'm super lax about blocking.

Neons (425348) is the account of notorious Dappervolk scammer Snow (698) if anyone wants to block them in advance. Here's a quick rundown on them: https://three-of-swords.tumblr.com/post/624003558893862912/can-someone-give-me-the-rundown-on

Hmm hmm, you can also just use MS Word (I have incidentally just migrated to LibreOffice and it has the exact same search functionality, IDK about other text processors) to search the input for this regexp:

#[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]

Find All and then Copy

This will only find 8-digit IDs but there might actually be a regexp for "any string of digits" that I'm not aware of?

was this the "they're too fat to shoot" thing?

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
it bums me out that keel and glowtail were so lackluster because now we're probably not going to get another new tert for months

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish FR would just hire an art director already or at least someone to look over the general quality of genes and items
this whole "let the artists do what they want :)" stuff ultimately just brings us crap like keel
it doesn't even have to be forcing them to draw something, just help them in a direction where the end product actually looks good. keel is a good concept, pest could have drawn it for all I care. it's just obvious she had no thought in her brain while doing it besides "let's make scaley bits"

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
A constructive art critic, yes - like, Keel could be good! Every time I see a Keel dragon in AH, I like the small picture... and then I see the fullsize one and go ew because it has such sharp edges that don't match any other gene or breed lineart. Someone (undel?) managed to draw Gembond's lineart correctly to match the breed and other gene lineart.

gembond and keel are the best examples on what to do and what not. Gembond gems are drawn for each dragon and keel is just copypasted all over which makes it look like it does not belong to the dragon

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
agreed on having an art director... apparel i don't mind so much bc there's a lot more, but the fact that stuff like keel and multigaze look so shittily copypasted grinds my gears

the mockup houseteeth did of keel looks soooo much better and i wish we could've gotten that instead

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You just had to remind me of Multigaze - it makes me so angry that it's copy pasted even on the furry breeds (tundras and gaolers) because would it have killed someone to just add a couple more lines to simulate the eyes being on the skin deep in the fur and not floating on the tips of the hair???

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
dont get me started on how they half assed the whole eye thing - still makes me so mad

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
why are those 2 fan mock ups 10 times better than the shit we got? keel and glowtail look like shit compared to them

Simpler idea: Don't have your poor attendants record IDs.

There is no downside to this. It doesn't make anything harder to verify; CR and PA history is all there.

I have been running 'official' dom raffles since 2016, and I tell ya - I've actually had MORE problems with raffles where IDs are recorded than with raffles I've run where IDs are not recorded. Whether it's a fest push, uncontested conquest, or a heated conquest battle, my experience is the same - it is not worth it to make attendants record IDs.

Not only this, but not recording IDs takes a major load off of your attendants! Attending/receiving is already is pretty big task, especially with raffles, and with fewer volunteers, it makes it even harder for them.

I have had fewer mistakes & errors, more attendant participation, and overall quicker service by not having my attendants record IDs than I have EVER had when IDs were recorded.

tldr - don't make your poor attendants record IDs!

it made sense before the cr and ah revamps, but now the records are there!
