WAIT WAIT WAIT THIS IS SO FUNNY. I think I know what's going on. This user, Zarathusa https://www1.flightrising.com/clan-profile/171202 , have also been locked at the same time. They were mentioned (sort of) in AAA yesterday or the day before, someone said that their posts, lore, and art is AI generated, and linked them to everyone who asked. I talked to the original user who discovered it and they said they told Zarathusa they can't be using AI on site, and they bitterly took down their art/lore shop. I think this post is them being bitter that they got "gatekept" out of grifting off of AI art and writing. Their writing style was extremely similar (though they cleaned out most posts after getting called out), and they also did a similar ending to their posts with "—Zarathusa" at the end.
Is that the "Gatekeeping" they're whining about? That AI is banned on site? Amazing.
The original post is so vague, I'm not sure what unwelcoming culture and gatekeeping they're actually claiming to experience, besides that the UMA rules need to be clearer.
If the post is really about letting AI ""artists"" into the community, it suddenly makes sense to me. It also makes sense why they decided to vague-rant about it instead of saying what their real problem was. Very few would agree with their actual point, but probably more will agree that the community has bad vibes in some ways.
That would make a lot of sense. The forum post does ooze that weird sense of entitlement and hurt that AI users tend to have when they get told that generating slop with their favorite program is not the same thing as making art themselves.
When I read the thread without the ai knowledge, I was like yeah forums were more active in 2015 (and I assume 2013-2014). And like missing that social structure onsite (vs everyone in discords now) can be hard.
But staff can't really force people to use forums. They could try for more moderators but also volunteer position that kind of impacts how dom active one can be.
I miss newbie welcome weeks so much (but it's better for site to have sign ups always open).
i don't think that post showed ai flags but if they restarted a lore thread using ai that could be relevant.
