Staff must have believed that the account and post wasn't made in good faith, then (not that there was much doubt).

I believe from the overuse of em dashes and italicizing that their little speech was generated almost entirely from AI.

I was thinking their post felt off (wordy but with little substance)—it being AI makes a lot of sense imo. The fact that they claimed they deleted their old account seemed sus but I originally wrote that off as them misremembering, though now I guess it could just be a byproduct of using chatGPT or whatever.

The real tell is the way the post lists things. A lot of em dashes, listings like attribute one, two, and three, and breaking the post out into wordy bullet points and then going back to paragraphs, all on their own, are not sus. But together? That's how AI writes. I'm guessing they fed an initial draft into an AI and had it clean their words up. A lot of people do that because they think AI is smarter than they are.

i do get where youre coming from but you can never underestimate the power of an incredibly wordy individual who, by their own admission, has not slept and is probably in some level of emotional distress. im not about to armchair diagnose this person but i do see a lot of very uncomfortable similarities between their behavior and my own experiences with friends/family who were in the depths of a manic episode or similar mental health crises.

I have a close and loving relationship with em-dashes and I would not have used more than four in this amount of writing. Much less a set in every paragraph. So even if OP wrote it on their own, I'm pretty confident they used AI to edit it.

Really? I probably wouldn't use as many as OP either, but I've definitely seen some very dash-happy writers on the internet like this way before generative AI was a thing. Some people are just somewhat clunky and repetitive in their writing, especially when it's a long comment and/or they're in distress.

Edited with AI, maybe. I've heard that's becoming much more common now.

I - as someone who frequently uses dashes and italics - have no idea why you'd claim that.

Jokes aside, I am somewhat serious in questioning your sentiment. Some people have always just... written like that for flavor and emphasis?

dda this! same with bullet point/organized lists or whatever the heck other so-called "tell" people are insisting are it these days.

grammar school hammers it into you to write a certain way, no shit the computers also mimic it.

remember there is no sure-fire way to tell unless the person outright admits they are using it.

that said i fully believe that the op of that thread was indeed complaining about ai not being allowed. that tracks given the vagueness about "creativity" because this community usually has no qualms about making extremely specific complaints about the site and the devs.

I don't know if I attribute em dashes and italics solely with ai (as a writer who uses em dashes, I hate this argument) but the pattern of speech used in the post definitely screams ai to me or at least edited with ai

Actually, considering the way they spoke and the inability to delete an account, my bet is a multiaccount bam. That account is a day old.
