That's a pretty fast drop already - only double the gem equivalent and they've been out for a few hours.
I guess I don't think it's that bad if people buying the familiars for real money profit a little from it. After all, they could've just bought gems directly rather than go through the familiar, but this way the money's going to the charity.
I have such mixed feelings on this because on the one hand, the people buying them off the AH weren’t going to buy them from the site in the first place, so it’s not like the charity loses out on money. It probably gets more from people buying them to flip in fact. It does feel a little scummy to take advantage of people who literally can’t get them for USD, but it’s not like we don’t have several hubs set up to do an equivalent trade (and even if many are waiting for the bulk buy option, it’s going to be running for a few months and you don’t have to have the familiar now - people can wait if they don’t wanna pay double the price). I wouldn’t even feel bothered if it was people selling them for more after the charity run ends. So logically there’s really nothing wrong with what they’re doing and the end result (charity getting donations) is the same.
Buuuut it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It just seems to go against the spirit of everything I guess? Like I wouldn’t block or callout people over it necessarily, but it’s not something I’d feel good doing.
Except for the people buying them from the forum hubs and turning around and flipping them - those people suck and should feel terrible.
