mildly off-topic, but you'll be surprised how long can people be "actively dying" - my grandmother is close to dying... or at least that's what she's been telling everyone for close to sixty years now, yet, somehow (/s), she's still alive, moving, breathing and doing reasonably well considering her age

Oh, I know, My mother told me she was hoping to make it to my High school graduation, and that was in 1999. She lived until 2019.
I remember a movie, called the Wrong Box, where one of the main characters told his 'cousin' that his grandfather was dying, and she was all sympathetic until he said 'oh, no worries, he has been dying for years!'
