we don't know how sporadic their activity was, though. they *could* have been doing "invisible" (to non-staff) activities like gathering and maxing out fairgrounds every day, potentially generating a metric shit-ton of items/currency over the course of the 5 months between the report and the accounts being locked.
even if they were only logging in during festivals to generate and sell a bunch of FC (a la https://anonrerising.dreamwidth.org/6960.html?thread=8448560#cmt8448560), that's still a very large amount of "dirty money", so to speak.
or maybe all they ever did was claim and hatch the free eggs from galore, and *that* was what was needed to nail them... except this was their *second* time doing that. check out all the year-old auraboas in their hibdens. (also, i just noticed that all of their custom progens were guardians. but that's a minor detail.)
point is, that player wasn't discreet at all about their having multiple accounts, and it's been quite obvious (even to non-staff, and even before fathomgate) that they were a multi. staff has much more information than we do (IP address, full activity logs, etc) so i imagine it'd be crystal-clear to them.
also... bans are reversible. iirc, sucrose (prominent UMA artist) was mistakenly banned under suspicion of RMT, and later unbanned after further investigation was done? if staff was 99% sure about this multi-accounter, i feel like it'd make more sense to stop the bleeding asap instead of waiting an indeterminate amount of time for that last 1% to come to light. if it turns out there wasn't any bleeding to begin with, just undo the ban, no harm done. (except for some minor inconvenience to the 30 or so players behind all those accounts. lmao.)
TLDR: with all the info that staff has at their disposal, allowing a blatantly obvious multi ring to continue operating for any longer than a week or so (let alone *months*) seems like negligence on their part, given how strict they claim to be about cracking down on multi-accounters. but that's just my opinion, of course.
Re: Gotta love Multi's who out themselves so blatently
To me it really comes down to two things. I tend to bring this up whenever someone tries to get a wave of anxiety over 'innocents being banned' going.
1. Staff doesn't want to ban players. The staff of a *good* petsite, or competant staff, do not want to ban players unless they have to. Players are their bread and butter. Banning right and left has many consequences for a pet site.
Every player banned is one less click for their data. That player isn't navigating around the site generating views and clicks.
Every player banned is potential bad publicity. Look at what happened with that one player where Aeq had to step in to clear up misconceptions, because the player was lying about why they were banned. Now imagine what it would be like if the player HAD been banned for something innocent or was wrongly banned.
More bad publicity comes from just the general idea that the staff is willing to ban people for anything. I remember another pet site whose owner has a really bad reputation of starting pet sites and then milking them for everything and then abandoning them. They were also known for banning anyone who disagreed with them or said anything they didn't like. While the petsite I played was fun, it was also mostly dead because most people had already left (not just over that, but that definitely contributed) or been banned.
So, of course the staff are going to take a while to actually make sure that they aren't banning innocent people.
2. The second point is that the player base is 'sure' that a great many people are obvious multis. In other words, it isn't that hard to get the player base on the train of 'this group of people are multis!' because of similar names or because they all are the type of person who just logs in for festivals/special occasions. It doesn't mean they actually are.
Which is my point. You said it yourself, the staff has better tools to determine multis than we do, so if they aren't banning 'obvious' multis, it might not be obvious to their tools that the person is a multi, and they have to wait for that last '1%' to come to light to be completely sure.
Also, that 'minor inconvenience' to the 30 or so players behind the accounts is actually not minor to those players and could be the difference between them continuing to play or them leaving, especially if it happens during an event where they are now locked out of getting certain items/being able to play (such as anniversary when there is a good chance of items being released that won't be released again)
A 3rd point, and I know I said there were two:P, is about the reporting system in general.
Flight rising is a pretty large site, they most likely have dozens of reports/tickets being sent in pretty much at any given moment, ranging from someone disliking a word someone on the forums used, to people wanting account action for themselves, to people reporting others for exalting their dragon and so on. This can delay reports for serious things such as multi accounting being seen to begin with, even with multiple people/certain types of reports being given priority. I also believe they use a help desk type situation, where the people who initially see the tickets aren't actually able to do anything with regards to banning players but instead need to send it to the correct department (I may be wrong about this), which means that when the ticket is closed isn't necessarily when it is seen by someone who has access to the tools needed to investigate (help desk could handle regular inquiries and general stuff, but things that require action on the part of the admins likely can't be handled by them)
This adds another layer of delay to the time a person sends in a report and when any action is seen by the player who sent it in. Also, keep in mind that the person who actually investigates the report also likely has other things they need to be doing on a staff like Flight Rising's. I don't think they have a dedicated 'report handler' who has access to all the tools and can take action on their own. Which, again, means more delays.
Basically, TL;DR is that Staff doesn't want to ban players due to bad publicity and needing players to generate revenue, and having a turn around of months is actually about standard for contact us and reports.
Re: Gotta love Multi's who out themselves so blatently
da – incredibly disappointed to learn at least four of those names/ids are ones i reported in a *different* instance of multi-ing and flooding the ah, in my case for the marva capsules well below lah
eh I mean. They're right though? We still lack a lot of accessibility options - again parts of the site didn't even exist for those using screen readers until recently - and it is click heavy as shit. While I can certainly agree that the site doesn't necessarily owe their players free shit, we still get it occasionally through Galore, and having a smaller but continuous drop of items would be nice for those that have a limited ability to interact with the site and "grind" to get the ""normal"" or ""full"" FR experience. Like hell I'm fully functional in the ways that are required to minmax this site (... and less functional in other ways, but yeehaw) but I still like little treats and gifts. I absolutely want free shit. Give me all the free shit, and everyone else as well?? If people don't want free shit and to grind for it then lol by all means, hoardsell it or don't claim it in the first place.
Still fucking wild of RedWillia to say they find the OPs reasons "disgusting", and quite frankly rude as fuck. Like damn pick a lane! Do you want people to motivate their suggestions with reasons beyond "idk seems fun" or do you not? There's just never any pleasing this person
also lol RedWillia always feels like they deserve to be in the wanker thread with how annoying they are in the suggestion forums (the devs don't even want silly ass "no supports" - go find something you like and support it, or suggest ways to tweak the idea to build it up instead of being a stick in the mud)
So, you gonna start posting every obnoxious suggestions forum regular here? Most of them just as bad. If we get to doing that, the wanker thread loses all usefulness.
Honestly, would love to make it a tradition - not like I can call them fucking idiots on the site now can I? Always nice to have threads pop up for these wankers since they keep being idiots in the suggestion forums
what happened to thinking someone's annoying then just closing the tab? are we truly so starved for drama topics that we're namedropping users for menial annoyances and circlejerking until our dicks fall off? this is SMR-tier nonsense.
I've been needing an accent that actually gives baby fathoms a good cat nose and whiskers. There's a few that have played with the concept, but fewer than I would have expected, and none that serve my needs. My needs are to have my baby fathoms that are fandragons of my IRL cats actually look like cats. I would buy multiple of these if they existed.
Re: Gotta love Multi's who out themselves so blatently
sa – actually, if staff isnt going to address them, i'll just drop the list here. this is not complete (there was at least one other user who helped me bc they were also sniping the capsules and there were some i bought before i noticed it was a pattern so i didnt note the usernames) but fwiw it does seem a few of the list did get banned at some point

Re: Gotta love Multi's who out themselves so blatently
Honestly the fact that most of the ancient breed releases have nothing to do with the story kind of peeves me a bit. Like, how hard would it have been to make the Aether crash be a result of the shade attacking it because of all the magic? Or have the Sandsurge resurface because of The Source?
The Auraboa release ultimately tying in with The Seed and The Sickness is a good fix, but due to the fact they made the Auraboa pretty overtly racist at first means that we haven't gotten any other stories with the breed releases. Why have the Dusthides surfaced? And why have the Everlux chosen to reveal themselves instead of just moving away from the Luminax?
It's also been two years since the last beastclans update. While they're not the main draw of Flight Rising, I personally really like them because they flesh out the world really well. Here's hoping we get another soon.
I've been destroyed by school and depression the past few years and God it's making FR hard to play. Don't have the energy for coli, don't have it for Baldwin, don't have energy for fairgrounds. I constantly have to buy food and my only source of dragon cash is selling fodder I breed and occasionally hoard selling random crap. There's got to be a better way to get dragon cash than this. Or a way to reignite my passion. God I fucking hate having depression.q
I am sorry to hear about your depression nonny, but here are a few tips from me to make (hopefully) your time on FR less exhausting:
* Put all your dragons in your Hibernal Den that you are not using for breeding and for coli! Also make sure to feed your dragons before you den them. That way only the dragons that actively contribute to your lair are eating out of your foodstores. That way you should have (maximum) of 33 active dragons in your lair (if you have a constant breeding rotation of every 5 days with common breeds that have 15 day breeding cooldown), that will slow down your food consumption significantly!
* Look if your flight has a Foodbank! I am not sure in what flight you are in but as far as I know every flight has one.
* If everything else fails be not afraid to put every dragon you have in your den and take a break from FR! A while ago the devs implemented if you dont login for a month (i think) and then you return, your dragons get automatically fed by the system to make it easier for returning players.
The fact that I can get a deity-colored dragon from any other flight for between 13-65g, but for Lightweaver colored dragons it's a minimum of 100g, with listings going up to 500g, is complete bullshit. Quite frankly, I refuse to pay that much just to complete my ambassador tab.
Dear Light Flight: You're not that special, get the fuck over yourselves, your shit is not inherently worth more.
Seriously considering undertaking a breeding project specifically to tank the value of Lightweaver colored dragons just out of spite at this point.
I kinda forgot about Adventure Mode (I know they really want to implement it but at this point I don't think it'll be here until 2033), and I think that you're correct. It's honestly a shame that they chose to withold, instead of going ahead and releasing tidbits anyways. I guess part of it is that I'm not bothered by spoilers, so knowing AM content before it's released would not at all bug me, if anything I'd get more excited while playing because "Oh I Know About That!" but that's really just me being a dweeb.
The fest vs war content point is a really good one. I do wonder how... different, things would be if instead of dom being sportsmanship, it was genuine competition. I'm sure the butthurt and rage would increase tenfold, since everyone on the internet is *so* good at losing lmao
I do agree there. I get that they're the writers, and can pick the direction and tone of the story, and that for the last 2-ish years the world has been full of very real conflict and war so we're all looking for an escape... But there's no reason for the kind of randomness in the stories. Thank goodness the racism in the original Auraboa story was addressed, I enjoyed the newer version much more and actually liked the fact that it was longer and more involved. I really hope that for Dusthides and Everlux, since a better writing team and review process is in place, they'll choose to include more lore-relevant content instead of "cute quick internet story" content.
And, yes, please, more beastclans! I want to learn more about the dryads and the serthis and the longnecks, just, all of them. I agree that it fleshes out the world really well, especially as the team works to reduce the ways in which the content was problematic before.
Dragons are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them. If people are buying Lightweaver dragons for 100+g, I don’t blame the breeders for trying to make money. It’s not like they’re a necessity for game play - the market for those is probably very niche and I know from breeding projects for very specific color pairs it’s a lot of work to get those pairs set up, and a lot of money to gene them if necessary.
I think if you want to put the time and effort into making your own breeding pair, you should - it’ll probably be a fun project and if they’re really selling for that much you could make a bit of money yourself. But I don’t think it’s the current breeders fault you can’t afford their dragons.
It's not a "can't afford," I've definitely bought dragons for much more, and understand that people want to make their money and that a dragon's worth is in the eye of the player.
I guess this particular wank is a combo of a couple things. I already kind of regard a certain portion of Light Flight as elitist/self-important, in particular the people who obsess over the aesthetic. I also don't really care for the aesthetic and think it's milquetoast as hell. The recent Everlux drama of "tHaT's NoT lIgHt AeStHeTiC" *significantly* bolstered those impressions for me. I know I'm painting with a broad brush, which is not a great thing to do, but I just can't take Light Flight seriously anymore, and a lot of their stuff has reached "Bitch Eating Crackers Syndrome" for me. Hence, the petty wank post.
