Why uh oh? This is normal for battles. Prices peak on Wednesday or Thursday, then people begin to offload the hoards they've been saving for high prices on Friday and Saturday. This happens every battle.
Ah man, that bums me out. I knew them when that cat was a kitten and was hoping they'd become a better owner over time, because they were pretty overwhelmed and upset with owning it back then.
But why on Earth aren't listings from a banned account removed immediately?
I am an older player, so I know it was to avoid "Scavenging" banned accounts (or to avoid someone who was banned to buy back their dragons/stuff). But having an immovable listing clog up the AH for up to seven days is not good either..
Re: I won't post this on Suggestions, this is mostly wank
people are probably trying to get their fodder out the door because of that auraboa putting a 'limit' on how much they can sell for. folks are willing to shove their dragons on the AH for lower than 15k in order to not have to compete with other players trying to squeeze what they can out of each dragon without risking it being shoved off the front page too soon.
it is really sad. it was so bad the server owner literally had to tell them to shut up about it bc it was making everyone extremely uncomfortable and concerned for the cat's QOL and safety.
curious to know why you think it'd solve the problem.
selling a bunch of light sprites to people that want to collect one at a more reasonable price is well and good but imo you're massively underestimating the amount of people who want it and have 100kg ready to go vs the ones who will probably never be able to save that much but still want the sprite just as bad.
also talking about Elisabluh / other hypothetical players as if they're gonna swoop in like vultures upon these 100kg sprites, when this person supposedly does in fact own nearly a hundred of them, is rich. god forbid a handful of them will MAYBE get grabbed to be relisted for higher when literally fuckinnn lightsprites georg exists...
it's baffling that one player gets so much shit for listing like 10ish light sprites for high prices over several years, with rumours of market manipulation, accusations of hoarding and demands of proof galore, but then someone claims that a player with 99 light sprites exists whose attitude is like "I might sell em! I might not! teehee!", and suddenly yall are like "haha epic". make up your minds
because it's basically what happened with eliminates but on a smaller scale? because it might act as a hard reset on some of the price gouging that occurred? because you're fundamentally misunderstanding what the issue actually is here?
have you never seen that episode of spongebob with the #1 soda drink hat? it's that. somebody has a whole warehouse full of them.
i like how you can you sit there and argue that a situation where somebody listed a bunch of light sprites at a lower price would be bad because *checks notes* people won't be able to afford that either? so prices should just stay extra exorbitantly high?
because yes, obviously very few people would hypothetically have 100kg ready to spend right this very moment. but it'd slash the current price in half and keep it there, particularly if the seller was vigilant about re-sellers.
if you want to argue that this hypothetical situation of flooding the market with lower priced light sprites would be bad because of "predatory pricing", you might have half a point but i'd still laugh at you because this isn't walmart stamping out small businesses. and also people get away with this irl anyway.
you're also missing the really obvious difference between this supposed light sprites georg and elizabluh. which is that, regardless of whether you believe elizabluh artificially inflated light sprite prices in '21/'22, light sprites georg isn't currently injecting themselves unnecessarily into the conversation about light sprites and being an asshole where people can see them being an asshole.
going "lol no support" to a suggestion that involves trying to make all festival items be treated equally when people know you're involved in the light sprite market is a dumbass move.
elizabluh could have just as easily done exactly what you're imagining this other player doing. silently sat on their hoard of light sprites and titter to themselves about how clever they are for having so many. they chose not to.
and they have nobody to blame but themselves about that.
i'm gonna be honest, i doubt 30 sprites listed for 100kg each is gonna make much of a dent in the long term. maybe it'll stay 100kg for a few months or so but it'll probably climb back up to the 135-145kg it is currently selling for in the forums and maybe inflate even further.
the folks who want the sprite badly but aren't willing to shell out whatever ridiculous price it is now is pretty vocal but i bet there are quite a few people who are able to afford it lurking in the background.
the problem is still there but just temporarily dampened, until there is a consistent injection of light sprite supply, which requires staff intervention.
I probably should have phrased myself better there. What I meant is that the overall issue of the scarcity of light sprites isn't gonna be changed if one user suddenly tossed 30 of them on the market for 100kg. Sure their price would be 100kg... for a while... however there are hundreds of not thousands of players who would miss out on those sprites whether or not they have the ability to save up and shell out 100kg because the userbase keeps growing while the amount of light sprites in existence remains the same.
Also I assume you're referring to the Dustcarve Dig eliminate release? The box that guaranteed at least one eliminate? Famously given to the players by the site's staff, not eliminates georg (although I'm sure those exist too)? A very good example of where staff demonstrated their ability to help the market of an item without making some stupid rule about banning "market manipulators"? I wonder if something similar could maybe be done with light sprites...
And yeah that point about Elisabluh is fair although as I've expressed in other posts of mine I still feel like the scrutiny directed towards her regularly goes overboard. In a salt space fine but on-site? I wish more people would just use the block function instead of engaging. The "no support lol" may be frustrating to see and breaks suggestions forum rules iirc but I feel like people took it personally which is just... what...?
I haven't seen that spongebob episode by the way. I haven't seen any spongebob actually I'm kind of a loser like that
Elisabluh doesn't get shit for having light sprites. Elisabluh gets shit for having lightsprites *and being smug about it knowing that other players can't have it*.
Re: I won't post this on Suggestions, this is mostly wank
The difference is they ostensibly/assumedly bought (E + the other person another nonny from the older thread knew who did it too) to scalp and market manipulate, vs buying to have, outside-of-market. It's the intent that would make it different. The anon who knows Mr. 99 can correct me, but I'm betting if they have 99 they bought the sprites way before the price jump. They're just a whale, not a bad actor.
Also you're assuming that E is being entirely truthful in her tumblr post when getting on my ass, which I don't believe. I think she's at least partially lying and also a massive asshole.
No comment on the rest the other guy says it well
