Maybe to bring them in line with other holiday familiars? Now that you don't get them in every NotN chest, maybe they're not quite as much a glut on the market as they used to be. I hordesold or melted all but one copy each of mine, too, so not a big deal to me, but I can see how it would be annoying if you've got a few hundred in storage.

On that note, we made them meltable because there was so many bears... now that they're somewhat rare again, I think I'll go through and make them vendor and melt-proof so someone doesn't do a whoopsie and melt a valuable item."
