Thanks for the reminder to nuke my spam-throwaway email that was attached to an old account that I used for transferring stuff. Can't accidentally send a ticket using that email if it doesn't exist anymore, right?

Context is that I was harassed off-site so severely, that I no longer felt safe. It affected my gameplay too, as people didn't want to interact with me anymore. FR refused to help me. Off-site didn't do anything about my reports, so I resorted to multi-ing in order to continue to play without being harassed. I'll admit, I have used the account recently with the release of Aethers under a VPN, but I changed the password to a keyboard smash, and fully abandoned it. That's the last time I'll ever use a second account.

If I get caught, ah well, it is what it is. At least I didn't get harassed this time around, and that's the big thing I care about. It was actually very traumatizing to go through, and I was scared shitless the entire time I was moving my belongings around. Tbh, I still am, because the player that started a hate campaign against me is still active.

All because of a misunderstanding. :(

Kind of sucks that I hear about this kind of thing happening and there's no grace from staff when it comes to banning people making new mains due to harassment or just forgetting they created them, and meanwhile brightmyth has apparently been funneling from multis for 3 years or more but gets an invitation from staff to make a new account.

you can make new accts after being banned for multi-ing in most cases tho, brightmyth isnt getting special treatment on that front

Hah yea I will admit the Aether thing was 100% a stupid thing on my part. If they ban me for it, I won't even lie about being caught. They're my new favorite breed and greed took over lmao, but I no longer have access at least. (Also the hatches were ugly so rip, sold em off immediately)

But regardless, I do wish that staff were more graceful and compassionate about... everything basically. They just let the harassment continue for me, and they don't offer any mercy for those who made dumb mistakes as a kid or have severe memory problems (like me and many others). I don't remember most big names from my original account when I bought accents, and I look at them now n just go "who the hell is this?" even though they apparently never changed names? I'm sure there's plenty of people who have made a new account because their memory is so bad they don't remember the game altogether, but unfortunately, how do you prove that?

Either way, it's a dream, but I hope they'll make policy changes some day for the better.

Yeah I'm with you, I've always found it weird that the response for revealing an alt has been an instant ban regardless of how active it is, though the fact that a lot of these do turn out to be active multis funneling cash in the end always makes me a bit suspicious when someone is banned.

It's such an asinine policy. Ban the ones that are obviously active and funneling. If it's abandoned, especially with only progens (sometimes not even, some people don't make it that far), give them the grace of locking it up.

It's these things that I've committed to playing legit as of the Aether release, despite my stupidity + history with harassment. I'm not very social, and I don't file tickets (if I do, I need to double check emails), so thankfully, I don't draw attention that much. Fingers crossed that putting everything in the past will allow me to slip by, moving forward.

It's clear that staff doesn't put anyone above the rules though, and I'm pretty glad for that, but sheesh. Strict much? (in others' cases, that is)

Yeah but on the other hand I can also see why they'd just want to draw a hard line instead of having the policy be case by case for a variety of reasons. Having multis listed as an instant bannable offense is a pretty big deterrent, and having it apply to anyone with a multi might feel more fair than a situation like staff deciding to ban user A for funneling 400g and progens three years ago but not banning user B who only funneled 10g but logs into their alt every day to bump their own forum raffles. Whole can of wyrms I still think contacting staff to close an old dead alt that hasn't funneled anything shouldn't be ban worthy, but I don't run a website, what do I know.

Right?? Like if someone made an account, left it, and then made a new account years later because they legitimately forgot about the previous account... I feel like they shouldn't get all the accounts banned tbh. I mean if the account hadn't had any activity for years, no sign ins or anything... c'mon.

I mean, that's actually something that sorta happened to a friend of mine on another site. Made an account, and then found out a little while later that they made a different account at least four years before that, which they had forgotten about. Thankfully the admin of that site just made them "move" to the older account in the end (with them allowing the friend to use the name they gave their newer account on the older account while renaming the newer one, but all the items and such had to be left on the newer account). Like, give people some mercy if the older/alt account HASN'T BEEN TOUCHED FOR YEARS.

I know this doesn't apply to BM, but still, guh.

true story: this exact scenario happened to me recently with chickensmoothie (found out I had a years-old empty account I had forgotten about like a month after starting to play on a new one)
was real scared at first knowing how I'd be done for if it was like on FR but from browsing the help forums I got the impression the admins there were more understanding, so I decided to risk sending in a support ticket explaining the situation and asking them to close the old acct + let me keep playing on the new one
and within a day I got a nice reply back saying "ok, we closed the old account, thank you for letting us know"! and that was it, no hassle, no lost items. it really can be that simple

i can intimately relate to this as well. i never made a second account or anything, but i did abandon the site for a couple of years because of a similar sounding group -- one of them even said they couldnt quit FR, because then i would "win", and they could only "win" against me if i killed myself. i totally understand the desire to escape that, and how unsafe people can make you feel even on the internet. im so sorry that happened to you
