Might be also some skin-centric thing, maybe they got exposed for art theft and such? Would not be the first and last time that some high-profile skin maker gets caught with that.

lol I wonder if someone hit him up over dm on FR to be like 'yes I would like to discuss liquidating my g1 imp for thousands of dollars worth of gems; let's move this conversation off site to discord where we can see our actual conversation history' and staff got out the banhammer for off site trading.

i cannot possibly imagine "staff thinks brightmyth is greedy and cracks down on him" being the reaction to that comment? he is ultimately saying the payout SHOULDN'T be raised, ffs.

personally, i am inclined to think either the timing is a coincidence or, yes, it is due to intensified scrutiny from the imp scroll. (still weird to me if RMT/bm stuff is suspected though, tbh. like… really bigname artists are exactly the people I would expect to have those kind of gems on-hand.)

yeah youre totally right about how it would have been handled simmilar to the gun skin. my only thinking in that being the reason is brightmyth has a LOT of face replacement skins.... but again i cant see this as a reason he would get outright banned?
behind the scenes also isnt impossible to me. i wouldnt be shocked if he got into a fight over the skin contests behind the scenes, but i also dont know him personally. i guess well just have to wait and see

jfc i hope staff aren't banning for that kind of thing

Shop deletion could be to stop issues of people ordering and possibly yeeting money into the void at a banned user, but... That could have easily been done with a lock and note

He's not advocating for bigger contest prize compensation, but he does openly describe it as measley? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk, there's been plenty of discourse around FR staff being a little exploitative when it comes to contest skins and tbh they never come out of it looking great.

But yeah more likely than not staff just found art theft/black market deals/multi/funneling recently and subsequently banned him.

i don't think BMT is likely tbh, with recent customs selling for 50kg+ and the RNG adopts being so popular, if anyone has enough pure g to buy a g1 imp it would be brightmyth lol

at that level of gem income, BMTing is unnecessary and the risk not worth the reward...

id imagine theyd need some actual proof of item/currency exchange alongside that kind of PM to actually necessitate a ban, though. some random asshole maliciously sending brightmyth/anyone a PM saying "lets do bad things but offsite teehee 🤭" probably wont cause a ban if there's no exchange associated with it. all that being said im not staff or brightmyth so Who Knows lol

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was imagining moving to discord for ease of basic conversation being something most people would likely agree to. Scenario being:

Person: let's discuss prices on discord, the website with live chat feature
BM: yes

ahhh, makes sense. afaik off-site communication for trades is fully allowed? not sure if im missing a rule/article but from the below article it says that normal fr-for-fr trades that are organized offsite are allowed, but fr staff cant step in to "support" a user if the trade is a scam or otherwise. in any case this situation seems kinda messy lol

Oh yep, looks like they're explicit about it being allowed but not their responsibility if you get ripped off.

"What types of trades are allowed but unsupported? Eligible cross-site trades/Flight Rising to Flight Rising trades that are negotiated on a third-party platform (Slack, Discord, etc)"

what happened to brightmyth? i can't like any of their dragons

Re: brightmyth banned?

(Anonymous) 2023-03-31 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
pretty baffling they deleted the entire thread. makes me think it's probably a skin/art issue, right after he won another skin contest too. is there any other skin artist who's been banned and got their entire thread nuked?

Re: brightmyth banned?

(Anonymous) 2023-03-31 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It's possible Brightmyth had nearly enough for the imp scroll, but wasn't quite there, and decided to buy the remaining gems on the black market because it's a huge discount compared to buying for official prices.

Or, they were actually selling on the black market.

That's if a black market ban at all, of course. Could be funneling. Could be harrassment. We don't know.

You can't send anything to a banned user, so that's definitely not the issue.

Other big-name skin artists that got banned haven't had their threads removed.

Deleting the skin thread screams art theft to me. Keep an eye on their skins, see if any of them disappear.

Spassow didn't get their shop deleted nor their account locked after they were caught tracing art for years. Somehow this feels even more suspicious. Did any other threads of his get removed?

Ok, looks like brightmyth had a multi running for a while:

Censoring brightmyth's email and the original multi account name because I don't post contact info. (These are all screenshots of things they've posted publicly though)

In order:
Email: v***o, posted on his art twitter:
https://imgur.com/a/rRJXnM3

Also used as his account name on another platform:
https://imgur.com/a/ZOYY9Rs

A quick search turns up an account that changed to the name Tarnisher:
https://imgur.com/a/8fYjCkp

Tarnisher is banned, looks like he cleared out first though. Some stats on their page and a familiar visitor:
https://imgur.com/a/T0GeJS1

This took 10 min of searching on google, I'd be surprised if staff hadn't already know about it but then again they probably have enough to do without checking every other user for multis.

Re: brightmyth banned?

(Anonymous) 2023-03-31 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you saying that, you think brightmyth owned the account Tarnisher just because it used to be called August? Because August is not at all a unique username.

No nonny, the original name of that account is the same as his email listed on his main twitter as well as the username he has on pinterest.

With that info censored and a “take my word for it” on the previous name of the account. I personally find it hard to consider this damning proof. Besides that, multi accounting doesn’t explain the skin shop going poof
