Oh no, you’re right - Wayback has it like that for a couple of weeks, so I guess they just wanted to be petty about the tab name change. I’m surprised staff didn’t clear the bio. I just skimmed and it definitely sounds like they’re bitter lol.

Either way, good riddance to them.

Mine, no. I actually don't use any of those types of skins, and while I'd love simpler scenery backgrounds, I doubt I'd want plain color ones in many situations. But I've seen enough requests for them since scenes launched - and that's even with me almost never checking the suggestions forum recently - that that was my first thought when those scenes appeared, how many people would wish they were real.

It feels like the same deal as how there was no way to get common eyes on the initial eye types launch - not like the intent with most new types where staff clearly wanted then to be random and 'special', which, while controversial, was at least them making a choice, but they needed a ton of people complaining to realize that A) sometimes the common color matches a given dragon best and B) there was no other easy fix for someone who was triggered when they hatched a dragon with shadow primal or something.

i'd guess so. staff have been pretty harsh on bigotry lately which i appreciate. they banned someone i reported for homophobia, and it was much less overt than this.

Re: Solid scenes: Trolling or oblivious?

(Anonymous) 2023-04-06 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ever since scenes were introduced, there have been suggestions about a solid white scene and more basic scenes in general, so pretty sure that staff DOES know that the user base wants those types of scenes.

However, I can't really understand why so many people wanted the marva scenes to be black and white?

Marva is a limited time event, where the items that she gives can be difficult to obtain. Do we even know whether these scenes are going to be in chests, so that they can be obtained after the event? Will they be returning to the grand exchange yearly?

I want solid colored scenes and I have long wanted more basic scenes (such as gradients, or like some of the early neopets backgrounds where it is color stars on a solid bg, or solid shapes on solid bgs etc...), but I don't want them locked to a limited time event where the only chance to obtain more is RNG through relatively difficult to obtain chests, or having to wait and hope they return the next year.

My personal stance is that I've never really minded some items being retired / very rare / very hard to obtain. For me it's just... Part of the game. I do understand where people who disagree are coming from. Though.

What's with everyone blowing up over BM being banned but no one cares about RK?

I admit, respect on the staff for enforcing rules even on their cash cows(accent makers)

This one has been awful too long. Kind of think they should have acted sooner. It feels like this was ongoing for months.

RK is notably less liked due to transphobia and shit behavior that has been discussed extensively on the salt mine

AYRT
I think 'Oriental' is a warning worthy but not ban worthy offense for staff. Maybe it's the cherry on top of the shit cake of their other offenses though? Iirc,RK themselves is East Asian, specifically Chinese.

For sure and it’s well within their rights to use it if they want - but staff has made it abundantly clear they don’t want the word used on their site (in this context at least). I assume they already received a warning when they cleared the word from their tab the first time.

But since it wasn’t actually staff that had added the censor bars, it’s probably mostly the rampant and repeated transphobia and inappropriate bios they were banned for.

Locked accounts no longer show Account Locked in the comment box, so user pages look normal even if locked accounts. You can confirm they’re locked by checking their dragons for the like button (if removed, they’re locked), trying to look them up in user search (if not showing up, they’re locked), or trying to buy an item of theirs off the AH (if you get an error, they’re locked). No idea why they don’t just add the account locked note back.

nayrt

my thoughts exactly, i have a feeling this was an "RK got too many strikes" deal, rather than one specific event causing their lock (assuming that their account was locked rather than banned)

Re: RubieKanary

(Anonymous) 2023-04-06 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope it's permanent ban and they're not allowed to come back, lol. Good on staff for nuking a transphobe off the site. They've had their dragon bios wiped twice already, so it's not like they didn't know.

Nobody cared about them repeatedly winning either, it's no surprise.

Re: RubieKanary

This is why I think mythicalviper's detractors have some kind of personal vendetta against her, because it's clearly not just about winning a lot of fests in a row. If that were remotely true, we'd see a more of salt toward players the average ARR reader wouldn't even recognize. It's just the hip and cool thing to hate on MV and it sucks.

Apparently you can't delete forum threads with 10 or more replies. How do you feel about this change now?

Re: deleting threads

(Anonymous) 2023-04-07 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see an issue? If a thread has more than 10 replies, odds are there are other users making contributions. Why should one person be able to delete other users' posts?

If you want to remove your content, you can blank out your post.

Some of the guide posts have long discussions of information where the original user isn't involved. They may have started it, but it's not really their post as such.

Staff can still delete rulebreaking posts anyway.

Re: deleting threads

Only way I see this changing anything is if people use silly spam replies / images / quotes / etc to forcibly immortalize a thread but the OP could just edit their post anyhow (and/or staff could crack down on the spam replies)

So… I don’t think it’ll change much of anything? Other than maybe folks who don’t know about the new restriction posting in bug reports or help as to why they can’t delete their thread. But only time will tell

Seems like they are back to their 'old tricks'.

They have several long posts on that other site about how it is ableist because they don't have certain accessiblity features, and how it is a personal attack on them.

The latest that I saw is that they are upset that the site, which has a human avatar you can dress, doesn't have glasses, and it is ableist and a personal attack on THEM. Over Glasses. That post got several others to take a step back and go 'whoa, maybe you should step back and think about why you are playing here' as they have noticed that every post has a list of disabilities and everything is a personal attack on them.

I *really* want to warn the people (including the site owner) about them but I just don't really know whether it would be taken in the spirit I mean it (as a 'hey you might want to be careful interacting with this person for your own mental health' and not as an attack on PE)
