I'm pretty bummed out that previous achievements won't be retroactively checked off because I busted my ass trying to complete them before the system was discontinued and never took screenshots because I assumed they'd be coming back :/

i get that and i can see how that sucks but i'm kind of the opposite. If the achievements came out and I already had a bunch unlocked from my days as an oldie i wouldn't be able to get as much dopamine rush out of [completing task]. I found myself really hoping i could start with a blank slate.

Different strokes, i guess. Genuinely RIP to your old efforts, sounds really frustrating.

You can still have a record of the old achievements you earned via the "Recent Activity" page! Though depending on what you've done since then, you may have a lot of pages to go through to find them all...

I'm pretty excited about it though, I always love achievements in games and I'm so happy they're finally returning! It also reminds me that we're at the last stretch for the site refactor, which makes me even more excited.

"I busted my ass trying to complete them before the system was discontinued"

Why would you do that
Don't set yourself up for disappointment later like that. You created these expectations for yourself

AYRT

It's been way too long but I'm pretty sure the general consensus back then was that the old achievements would be grandfathered in or at least displayed somewhere once the system was overhauled? People were setting up trading threads and everything in the Sales forum to help others get the achievements before they poofed.

I have no idea if this is something that the devs said would happen and ended up taking back now or if it was just a community assumption that was very wrong. But if it's the latter then yeah, I and everyone else who worked hard to finish these really just wasted a lot of time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They said they'd do it if they could, regarding credit.

As for the legacy system, they explained that:

"Unfortunately, given how patchy and old the progression data is for legacy achievements, there isn't really a way for us to surface that information to players given how vastly different the underlying achievement architecture is. At some point in the future it's possible that we may be able to pull it out as historical information, but it's not being scoped into this project."

My guess is, they still could do it, it's not a release priority, which it shouldn't be. You might be pissed your elite legacy stuff doesn't carry over. I'd be more so if they delayed the feature more just so folks can have a way to lord over people that missed it.

Planned(the word they used) is not a promise, and plans can change. I will not blame them if mine don't carry over, especially as they had so many glitches in the old system.
