so in the previous few journals there has been alot of discussion / thread derailment about sexualities, gender alignment, and real world politics. i am incredibly disgusted by the comments that are allowed to advocate for harm to both sides, the terfposter and the lgbt+ poster that repeatedly says stuff like "smash terf heads in"
UM? violence is not okay. at all.
can we introduce a new rule ? no more sexuality, gender, or political talk in any capacity. keep dragon forum about flightrising only. mods please the thread derailments are insane here
like seriously this stuff doesn't rly belong in an anonymous com about dragons
We literally have a rule about not wishing harm against anyone, and we try to screen any comments that do so. (I hate terfs with a passion and wish they'd disappear, but wishing violence on them makes us no better than they are.)
That being said, if we miss one, please let us know!
I don't like equating identity with politics, because political sides are something you choose, and are a force that can destroy lives of LGBTQIA2SP folks; not being cishet isn't a choice. While I wish the two weren't entangled, they are. And like it or not, sadly, there are folks on FR that are assholes that warrant them being on the wanker thread for being a bigot.
If y'all have ideas, I'll leave this up for feedback from other anons before Vasemod and I make a decision.
i agree that current policy is fine and that it takes a community to moderate a community. (mods aren't omnipresent, omniscient beings who can see everything happening at all times, or present at all times to act)
thanks to ARR, i have been able to block people who are hateful towards my identity so that i 1. do not have to interact with them, 2. don't have to see them, and 3. do not benefit them in any capacity by unknowingly selling things they need or buying things they sell.
it's an incredibly important facet to this blog to help people tailor their gaming experience to avoid people who actively hurt others, and it's not the fault of the platform that there are individuals who intend to break the rules it has. the individual should be dealt with, as that's not the standard operation of the platform.
imo i think you guys are doing a great job and the current policy is pretty good. and i've been actually pleasantly surprised at how the community has behaved itself when talking about the mentioned topics (of course i don't see the stuff you guys delete). the last thread had someone talking about how they dug through their coworkers bags because they thought one was a terf and pretty much everyone was telling them that they were the clown rather than going 'yay get that terf!' so idek what nonny is talking about.
most violent comments come off like obvious bait/trolls so idk
Too many times I have seen communities (on like reddit, facebook etc..) that claim to be bias free, yet anything that doesn't agree with the moderator's view is removed, but anything they agree with, even if they are basically the exact same post as one that was deleted, just change a noun, is allowed to stay.
That all posts that are against the rules are removed, no matter whether the mods agree with them or not, IS a good sign.
There was a hiccup at the beginning of this comm with the new mods and I was worried about bias then but rules were adjusted and it's been good since. I appreciate that a lot, kudos mods.
feedback / possible new rule

(Anonymous) 2022-10-26 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)Even the ones aimed at people the mods dislike(like TERFs) vanish. The ultimate sign of a decent mod team.
