Verifying the info makes sense to me but the first thing they chimed in with was this:
"I shouldn't have to mention this if y'all read the rules, but I am a bit disappointed that y'all are digging to find folks' facebook accounts." It was already an accusation and then the context added after was "SMR says we're doxxing" I just don't really get that energy lmao. I'm not trying to be Pro-Doxx here or something just like, why be convinced the comm is doxxing based on what SMR says when they could have just asked. Basically just think its stupid to have SMR attitudes bleed into here when we all squat here to avoid that kind of crybaby shit.

Reiterating that I'm not "Pro Doxxing" If you think its a violation then you can take it down, I wasn't arguing that to begin with. But you didn't come at it to verify the info you came at it accusing posters of doxxing and saying you were "disappointed" in them for it. The only reason it got verified was because the poster defended themselves against your accusation. There wasn't even a question in your first comment. That attitude is just unwarranted and apparently, according to your reply, motivated by the accusations made on SMR. I just think it was unnecessary to let SMR bitching bleed into how you came at posters on here before even verifying whether or not what SMR was accusing us of was even happening.

I get why you would take it down if they were trying to start shit but why blame the commenters for it when it was SMR to begin with. That's all I'm saying. It wasn't justified and it was SMR influencing the vibes here and I just think that's dumb.

I just want to say that thank you mods for verifying and making sure that the stuff here pertains to rules, and clarifying when needed so. It’s a headache to see commenters on SMR immediately jump to conclusions without checking whatsoever because they’re freaking ignorant.

way too many misunderstandings between users have happened because there was no proper clarification / communication gone awry.

this happens all the fucking time on SMR. someone comes to a random conclusion or submits vague info, then the rest of the commenters just take it at face value and run with it. absolutely 0 interest in proof or even validating claims.

Considering SMR posted and has left up a post claiming a now deleted DR post about a friend of mine asking for them to be publicly executed was nothing but the truth and said friend whined like a bitch to get it taken down?

eh, i dont personally think it would be a good idea to give them more attention that way. SMR is pretty shitty in terms of how it handles discourse but i feel like having a dedicated thread to SMR drama would just incentivize pulling more annoying stuff here. if something really is the cream of the crop it'll end up here anyways.

Tbh. As an SMR regular who had to figure out how to use dreamwidth. I’m kinda curious when the livejournal era ended because I also grew up on the beginnings of the internet. The golden age of neopets and club penguin, when there was still kid specific social spaces and everything wasn’t sanitized to just make everything count as kid friendly (despite the fact that kids under 13 probably shouldn’t be online unsupervised anyway. And in most cases arent even allowed to have accounts on these samitized social media).

But also, i never freaking did social stuff. So idk if it’s a case of I’m too young to have seen that or a case of i dont even use real social media or forums. The 4chan comparisons are really best left to the older comms though. Even then they’re probably a bit extreme because 4chan can be pretty bad.

A few of them are ex-catholics (by their own admission, oversharing in fr drama replies lol) but don't realize they still have the same mannerisms and principles they condemn. It's always "good or bad" thinking with no nuance, always trying to make problems out of nothing to crusade about. I think many SMR regulars take the drama too seriously when most of the time it's a circus sideshow not a legal trial.

Reading the thread was how I noticed it was weird that you started off with an accusation and even weirder that you then turned around and worried about accusations. You could stand to be a little more honest with yourself about how much SMR is affecting your moderation. Proposing a whole thread for them now? Come on.

It is kind of obvious Mindless is joking about it, for a multitude of reasons.
On the other hand it is quite tiresome we're constantly being compared to 4chan and kiwifarms by the nitwits on SMR. It's literally a "Tell me you haven't been on either of those sites without telling me you haven't been on either of those sites".

Also we did have someone who literally posted someones LinkedIn profile not too long ago, so without context as to where OP got the image from it is safe to assume someone decided to dig through the web for info, more so than assuming they got them in a public space.

It is not the least bit obvious, and if Mindless was really trying to make a joke then I strongly advise them to not attempt such jokes while moderating. That's just asking for trouble, especially when talking about a serious subject like doxxing.

I get that some people have been crappy before. A moderator's job is to be better than that.
