I'm op complaining about the nature thing but it was more about me being annoying at the moment and not a super big deal (I was actually getting over it LOL i was just too cranky). For sure did not want anything bad on the nature team god. I hope the dom heads are fine. Health and real life should always come before a petsite.

I hope you guys get organized soon :( maybe talk to your dom heads and ask about having more players join in the future? especially those who were involved in events and help out a lot.

Whenever I hear about how other flights' dom teams function I'm thankful to be a droplet 😅 They make it super easy to get involved and anyone can run a fundraiser or push event or whatever

Dom espionage gets tiresome. There was a time when people used to illegally multi account to spy.

As a pebble (who hasn't posted yet about this), I was more interested in seeing how a non-high stake fight between water and earth would play out. That's what I was disappointed about, especially because of all the events the dom heads had planned. With Nature having (was going to have??? Is it really canceled??) a PB, people (such as myself) will definitely give to them for the $$$ instead of exalting if the price is good enough. However, I like money and am not a typical pebble who treats profit pushing... as profit pushing instead of a conquest.

((Unpopular opinion, but I was fully expecting Water to win just because of how dedicated they are. I don't know how "loyal" earth players are, especially transfers like who are here for a vacation))

huh? the person I was replying to wasn't talking about espionage they were talking about flights getting in on other flights' weeks unless I completely misread that lol

meh that seems dumb considering houses are a normal UK boarding school thing and not just from Harry Potter. my friend's high school back in India also had houses which competed against each other during sports day so I imagine it's common in former British commonwealth countries generally too.

i completely agree with you that its something thats existed well before harry potter, but it is what introduced the concept of house cups to a lot of non-brit influenced areas.

also arcane's entire house cup concept takes direct inspiration from harry potter's sorting method and the 4 houses basically boil down to studiousness, friendliness, bravery, and "evil" competitiveness. the parallels to HP are pretty damn obvious.

ohhh hmmm ok that seems kinda boring, wouldn't it be more interesting to come up with your own magical school that doesn't have the smart/brave/evil/miscellaneous categorization lmao. wind's inter-flight competition is more imaginative that way. i think a magical school could still be fine but i feel like doing a harry potter theme every single year would get old.

I think it got locked because people started being rude (at least over a minute change) then others started being rude to the people being rude and the mods decided to cut it before it got worse

i mean you don't have to participate if you hate it that much. they do have more in depth descriptions to keep them from being a direct 1:1 of the hp houses. but i totally get it, it's in that rough spot where it's an in flight tradition at this point, and if they didn't do it i could forsee a ton of people being mad about it and making anon salt posts about "hdt not do the house cup" or w/e. but it's also not as beloved as it used to be, in and out of flight. so they're kinda effed if they run it and effed it they don't.

I also like Wind's houses, being themed after the four winds and all. Maybe, since the house system itself is fine but the inspiration for the ones they have is less fine, Arcane could do with a fresh set of houses. Something more space themed, perhaps? Name them after constellations, or astronomical phenomena (supernova, eclipse, etc)?

Idk I'm just spitballing here. But if the current houses are holding people back like this thread indicates, popping a different, more Arcane set of names into the system could be just what they need to increase participation. Something to hold a few flight polls about, at least.

ok but seriously what on earth (no pun intended) is this language i'm seeing from both water and earth anons like nature would have been "profiting off of" you? i thought it was pretty clear that it would have been an expensive conquest for nature at best.

maybe you mean "taking advantage," not "profiting off"? if that's the case, the point is less outright nonsensical but still fundamentally coming from a place of selfishness. just because you all are dom powerhouses doesn't mean that your profit pushes deserve special treatment. dom week "dibs" are competitive. if earth and water want any given push to be treated as the main event, you have to label them as conquest, period. no one's going to come into your flights and force you to lose money even if you label them "conquest," i promise.

idk, maybe "casual conquest" is a phrase that would actually be helpful to the dom community?

something to convey that the flights don't intend a slugfest (so everyone else please put away your opera glasses and your pie-in-the-sky dreams of fodder floor prices) but both still plan to be hosting lots of community events like a traditional conquest push.

When flights start sneaking around regularly, it results in the espionage and spying shit. The old days had that. It's not that fun. It's stressful.

I know that anyone can run a fundraiser or push event for us too, in fairness. nature has plenty of opportunities to participate in a lot of different programs. (ngl if anything it sometimes feels like there are if anything *too many*, but I don't have anything to compare this to.)

rather, it's getting involved on a HIGHER level than "signing up for a team/guild/program/etc." that to me has long been so ?????
—and even that I wouldn't mind if I felt like we had some decent activity going outside of GG and NvP. yet here we are.
