I used to do this on some other sites (not FR), and MMOs. The idea was to list an item or two at sliiightly lower prices (usually at staggered prices; one lower than the other), and a few at standard prices. People who were regulars or quick to my listings would get the cheaper prices, but people who either were late to the party or needed more than I had listed at lower prices would either need to look elsewhere for *maybe* similarly priced wares OR they could take the extra cost of the ones I had listed at standard price as a convenience thing before they got bought up by someone else.
This doesn't work as easily on FR as no one has their own storefronts and everything is listed by price together as one marketboard, but I can see this being a practice done by some others by force of habit if they do the same elsewhere. More power to them, as long as they aren't obviously trying to scam someone, which is what I get the vibe of from your second paragraph.

i also tend to have listings at different prices. i might let older higher priced auctions time out on their own and then relist at the current price-- but that's mostly with fest currency.
for things like eggs/genes/etc., sometimes i'll have a couple at different price points, in the hopes that as lower priced listings are bought, someone will nab the higher price listing too (assuming lower priced listings haven't been relisted yet).

Exactly. If paying 525k instead of 500k is a big deal to you, wait on restock and buy it. Or buy it through a Dom discount shop.

ngl, you sound like someone who has never been a serious gene scroll seller as a scroll with even a minimum discount will sell far faster than a scroll higher than MP, so within a couple of sales your 'strategy' fails and might (might!) only work for someone selling a couple of items. Therefore I doubt that any active scroll seller, especially as prolific as Ellipoo, is 'gambling' on dozens of scrolls they are selling.

Seriously. I make 4-5 million a week when my flight has dom casually flipping scrolls by knowing and following the market.
Why would I waste my effort catering to jerks that paid a pittance for hours of MP camping when I tried it? Dom shops are a completely different market than scroll selling.

During the Thrage Drama™, I said something along the lines of "I won't be buying gems anymore, and it almost makes me want to ask for a refund."
I shut my comp down for the night. Came back and found my account locked because apparently, petitioning for a refund via paypal dispute is against ToS- and just MENTIONING that you MIGHT do so is a bannable offense.
I went ahead with my threat, because I'd just spent money on gems, and had bought a bunch of scrolls- but was waiting on a breeding project before using them. Technically, FR had locked me out of using digital goods I'd paid for, and Paypal refunded ALL my money. So, eat shit, Staff.
I made another account, but I have yet to buy gems with my own money.

Sushimonsterr undercuts within minutes, like listing stacks of fest currency for 20k when LAH is 35k, if you try to relist lower they'll quickly undercut again

Here is the thing: A good business like this doesn't want to ban you for these things. They ban you to keep an even playing field.
