You're absolutely right and I'm glad word is getting out about how weird this is. A lot of FR drama is pointless but this could really affect people's lives if it went wrong.

I wonder how many people have already forked over their ID. :(

I'm in the server and I can tell you the majority of the people in there are a-okay with sending IDs and most likely have already sent them to the mods.

But they shouldnt be ok with sending that sort of info to randos online?? All you have is their word that "we're not gonna do anything malicious with it" but can you really trust that lol. Do you think sketchy ass people will approach you like "Hehehe give me your credit card information...NOW!"

Don't trust randos online. Basic internet safety 101.

Not only that, but so much data security is leaked by laxness and failed controls, and only then gets into the hands of malicious individuals. Discord has already had at least one leak.
