BINGO

Since this post will be current until January, thought I'd be salty/have fun with it. Let's see if we get Bingo, shall we?

Re: Gem and item cycling

(Anonymous) 2021-11-29 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure whether this would be considered an argument for or against, but reliable scheduling is an extremely attractive notion to me as someone who makes a lot of profit from flipping. As it stands I don't often invest in cycling gem items because that carries its own stripe of FOMO - if you never know when things are cycling back in, it's harder to judge exactly how long to wait to sell, and I don't feel like expending the mental energy on frustration/recrimination over making the wrong calls.

So on the one hand, it has potential to make rich players richer via a strategy that those who don't have a starting fund of gems can't use.

On the other, scalping isn't a worry with gem items as it is with limited-stock treasure things, and between-cycle prices would get less outrageous overall if more people get into the game - not to mention that charging someone an inflated price for an item that they are fully aware they can obtain cheaper in [X] specific amount of time feels less predatory than doing so when your buyer is uncertain how long they'd have to wait otherwise.
