Re: Auction etiquette

I just recently saw some screenshots about this (I had been ignoring it before thinking it had been blown out of proportion) but... I definitely now agree with everyone being mystified.

the seller is complaining that they 'lost' money on that dragon, and is, from what I have seen, basically melting down over not getting at least what 'every other XX white gen1 has gone for' and I am like, well, don't set the starting bid that low then.

I always make it a point to at the very least mention a low price I would consider. If I say 'make me an offer' I usually mean, make me an offer, 1 treasure will get it. I hope that I get reasonable offers, but if I don't get them, and I don't mention that there is a lower limit (or mention that I want 'reasonable' offers) then I absolutely will sell for 1 treasure if that is what someone offers, because it is on ME for not mentioning I had a minimum price in mind.

Bottom line: and sorry for yelling: DO NOT SET THE STARTING BID BELOW WHAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE SELLING AT.

Yea. The auction runner spent too much time in their echo chamber and decided everyone that disagrees is out to get them is how it reads now.

Cry more asshole.

Yeah, I was quite willing to give them the benefit of a doubt (that they regretted setting the SB so low, and made a complaint, and it got blown out of proportion), because I honestly do get 'seller's remorse', where I felt like I could have gotten more than I did.

But, ultimately that is on me. It is on the seller to make sure they set prices they are comfortable with selling at.

The posts I saw, even if they had 'jokes' cut out, still went way beyond being upset, especially the part about the 'lost' profit. Because no, apparently no one was interested in said dragon, except one person, so there was no 'profit' lost, because no one apparently wanted to buy it (at least at that particular time) for higher than the SB.

It is like, to me, the people who complain about 'lost profits' with items that they 'invested' in and something happens to make that item devalue. No you didn't lose profits, you lost potential profit.

I had an auction sell disappointingly low once. I learned I'm no good at running auctions, and I was dumb to set it so low. But I didn't do this over it.

Mind, cheaper dragon, but yea.

Also, with their bank amount shown... No pity at all.
