Re: Auction etiquette

ayrt there's a difference between the last day and the last minute which is what said, that i kinda side eye people who don't bid until the last minute on the last day of auction, but only if there's already been other people bidding on it. idrc if there's been no bids and someone bids at the last minute, good for them! and honestly i don't really care all that much if other people have bid and they swoop in last minute either, but it does irk me a tiny bit.

AYRT - Personally I'd treat both last day and last minute bids and out-bids the same because that's what 'snipe guards' are for because if you run an auction until a certain time, well, why shouldn't the players be able to bid until that time? As an example, one of my dragons came from an auction where I outbid two other players I think an hour before the week-long auction's end time because I simply didn't see the auction earlier (and they were playing around with minimum 10g increases, ffs). Hell, I was also on the other side too where someone outbid me when I was sleeping - sure it sucks but the rules were clear: you can bid until a certain time, so why be annoyed when players do exactly as is written? (not pointed at you exactly, but more in general)

this 100%. auctions are kind of a type of game and sniping is a valid strategy. you don't see people on eBay whine about things being unfair lol. it's so weird to me that people complain about things that are a non-issue in other auction settings.

Well, you do actually hear people whining about eBay. Especially when they've been sniped by a bot.
