The thing is, I see idea sharing happening in AAA all the time: more people are trying non-dragon anatomy modification similarly to b from earth and g from lightning, more people were doing 'dragon sliced up' accents after a discussion about it a while ago, etc. But each of them actually added something new to the base concept - different animals, poses, themes, palettes, etc.

That's what I'd call being inspired by other people. What H is doing is not. (Now is the whole thing overblown? Yes. AAA isn't very ban-happy though, and it's not like H has /technically/ done anything against the rules, so I don't see anything concrete happening any time soon.)

The insight on what the culture is normally like on AAA is useful context and it makes sense you see it that way. I just wish we had a better community response than this, it's overblown for sure.

Yeah, I've always wanted AAA to have more recognition but not like this LOL. It's been a really good fit for me in terms of average age, average time playing FR, strictness of rules, etc, despite not being a huge skin maker/collector; it's a shame people like H kill the vibe sometimes, and that others are learning about it this way.

It's the first affiliate server linked in Flight Chatter if you're in there. If not, I'm pretty sure FC is googleable.

Yea. This is the worst way possible to get attention. I mean, I saw the accents with the labeling of the group before, heard a mention or two...

And now this. The group instead comes off as hotheads or worse, bullies.

As another member of aaa I can definitely confirm that H is acting in a manner that is uncomfortable (to me at least) and I'm not even an artist myself, I can understand why people outside of the server may assume that they're just "recycling" the aesthetic and so on but I can promise no one on aaa would care if that was the case, the server is really chill which is why I enjoy it there so much. The problem is seeing H posting multiple times fawning over skins, realizing that they're most likely unobtainable and then suddenly posting shortly afterwards sketches that share the dragon pose and some significant details to the skins they wanted. Without the context it might seem like they just enjoy the aesthetic but having this happen after they post about skins they want that look suspicious like their newest sketch is just...weird, or at least to me.

^ this! this is the problem. if people come up with similar concepts independently it's whatever, but their behavior around it makes me uncomfortable

I'm an artist in aaa. I am not one of the artists that Hemophobia has copied off of since my style is not the silks filigree nature style they're into, but I've watched the copying happen over and over to people I consider friends. It's unnerving. I'm really glad a calmer and more nuanced conversation about this is happening on anonrerising instead of the shitshow in saltmine blog. I've always found that audience to be much more immature.

The problem is that H hasn't broken any rules. There's nothing against fawning over someone's work, or posting wips in the wip channel. And like people point out, 90% of the things they steal ARE highly generic traits (earring placement, horns).

So what can we do? What IS there to do? It's an asshole move to tell someone you're uncomfortable with them complimenting your skins or asking about your work. You can't bring up in chat how some design elements are really similar because it IS really generic until you realize their pattern of behavior. Blocking doesn't work, they can still see your messages. They haven't broken any rules, they won't get kicked out of the server. All they do is fawn over artists, self flagellate over how they won't ever get a copy of their amaaazing work, and then 15 minutes later post something clearly based of key design elements of the skin. It happened to Laeyein, Final, and Batfossil just off to top of my head. All amazing artists by the way. highly recommend their work.

It really isn't about the art stealing, their style is too unstyled to be much competition. It's about how creepy it is.

I can't really blame any of the server members, now that I'm aware of how it's happening, and again, I'd like to apologize for my tone in the starting post of the thread. It was undeserved and unfairly colored by the shitstorm on the saltmine.

At any rate, thank you for giving me the people that Hemo is copying. I'll be watching for their work in the future. I mean, I'm not buying Hemo's work for sure now.(Actually, I wasn't buying from Hemo out of protest of the damn spam already. This just makes me more sure of it.)
