BINGO

Since this post will be current until January, thought I'd be salty/have fun with it. Let's see if we get Bingo, shall we?

(Anonymous) 2021-12-10 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)been. My trans lady friends don't like the term MtF, either. Generally, it's polite NOT to use that term unless you use it yourself, or know the person in question is okay with it.
That being said, trans women get shat on a lot, so is it any surprise that they're quiet about being trans? And trans men get purposely ignored by FARTs in an attempt to invalidate them, so they can be a bit more open about their identity.
It's not a FR thing, it's a general thing.

Cut it out with this bait question, nonny.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-11 03:23 am (UTC)(link)You can't know these figures, because not every person who is trans will scream it off the mountaintop. Hell, I don't always realize the person I'm chatting with is trans unless they say something.
Not that it matters. A cool person is a cool person. An asshole is an asshole. Past that? Not my business.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-10 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)Giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming your question isn't in terrible faith (which, in case you didn't know, people assume it's sealioning at best because actual transphobes make this kind of comment all the time, it was in those Von Gacy screenshots for one thing):
Even without the orders of magnitude difference in player bases, one of the reasons you know trans women play Minecraft and FFXIV is probably that there's a lot of streaming or voice chat for those games and some people can't avoid disclosure. While FR has people claiming identities, there's zero obligation to do so and a totally different style of interaction to online gaming. Compare it to Neopets or other browser games if you feel compelled to analyse the gaming preferences of trans women.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-10 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)You and bullshit like this are the explanation. No one likes gotchas where their hobbies are analysed to prove something about their gender, including trans women.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-10 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)From my perspective I happen to see more people identifying as a feminine identity than I do a masculine or non-binary one playing FR. Does this mean that FR actively cultivates an environment that favors feminine people, and/or disregards its masculine and non-binary fanbase? No. To me, it's just by chance that the userbase has more active feminine players because more feminine people found out about FR, joined, and actively play it. I honestly don't think this is that deep. (For all I know the fanbase really does have more masculine people than it does feminine but also I don't care because this question is super weird)
edit: also sorry if any of my terminology is incorrect or anything. I just wasn't sure how to encompass everything so if I did a misstep lemme know

(Anonymous) 2021-12-11 04:41 am (UTC)(link)I agree with above comments that your framing is kind of weird, but I've wondered about this myself a couple of times coming from the other side (being transmasc in largely transfem online communities), so I get it anon.

(Anonymous) 2021-12-11 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)if I had to guess I would say that it might be because fr was promoted a lot in places like deviantart, tumblr, livejournal, etc., and those spaces have always been more inclusive-ish to women and girls who were into the fandom/art/roleplay side of the internet, compared to the rest of the internet
so in fr, female newcomers see many people introducing themselves as female in their bios/signatures, and so they feel more comfortable also displaying their gender identity, and from there it's kind of a self-propagating thing that fr gains an informal reputation as a place that is welcoming to women, trans or cis
so it's not that the transmasc players aren't there, playing, it might be that they just don't feel as comfortable outing themselves publicly in the fr website directly
