I seriously feel bad for the regular sparks that have to deal with their Dom team's mess

But considering the dumpster fire revealed in the previous post aka this (https://anonrerising.dreamwidth.org/3549.html#comments)... imho Lightning deserved to lose this week. Especially to Water of all flights

??? What mess? The dom team actually did what the flight wanted and we got to have a fun battle, stop feeling bad for us poor little Sparks for shit that isn’t even happening.

I was happy for the first round of dom drama because I wanted the dom scene to be more active and our leads to get kicked into gear but honestly I’m starting to think that people like you are just feuding with someone on the dom team and trying to stir shit up. It’s annoying at this point.

Multiple people have said they voted for all the dom dates just to make sure they actually got one. Dom org throwing their hands up and trying to do every date without checking if they overlapped with pushes from a major dom flight, when we already knew how weak the bank is...

It's good that it stirred up a lot of energy in the flight (badum-tss). It sucks that lack of common sense and planning from dom leaders tipped all that pb money into second place.

I understand what you're saying, but I haven't seen any spark actually miffed that we have 3 conquests lined up. Speaking of which, the dom team just put out a poll today offering a vote to possibly change those conquests to profits, so we'll see what happens.

Idk, I guess I'm just frustrated because there's been so much positivity and energy (nice pun btw) during this push but if you asked the average nonnie all us sparks are miserable and to be pitied. Yeah our dom team aren't strategy masters but who cares, we're having fun.

I'm really glad you guys are having fun—after all the Lightning Dom drama this year, I'm genuinely relieved to hear that regular Sparks are still having a good experience. That said, your dom leads do seem to be making some decisions that reveal a lack of experience, and I hope they learn as they go and can grow into a solid team.

The biggest one I can think of is deciding on 1 billion treasure as the bank goal for a battle. While WvE was absurdly expensive, it was also a very intense battle between two dom powerhouses. Agreeing on rules for a battle such as no mercs and less expensive raffle prizes can help reduce the cost.

"no mercs" is a non-enforceable rule imo, there will always be mercs. "no mercs with vault money" is also a fallacy, people will just not donate / donate less to be able to keep that flexibility :/ allowing mercs doesnt mean both sides will be 24/7 ordering tho (usually this does not happen)

raffle prizes agreements seem to be helpful from what i've seen, i think that one works

Raffle agreements are visible, and if you break them, you look awful. No mercs just results in tons of personal merc orders or buying leveled off the AH.

Agreed. I don't understand why anyone would choose the messiness of a bunch of private merc orders going around vs flight mercs. It's easier for people who want to contribute funds to help their flight (they can just focus on their dom bank), faster accepting for those who want to sell, and helps avoid people with the same goals from accidentally competing with each other.

Mercs have been on the scene for at least 6 years, anyway. Battles being more expensive now is about more than just mercs.

You can say that all you want. They aren't going anywhere. I hate that they're a thing, but if you won't pay and someone else will... You are at a massive disadvantage.

If they don't sell direct, they sell leveled on the AH. There's no winning.

Speaking as someone whose flight does dom, I really think you guys need to step back a touch. You went from a 1 to 11 with no gearing up or preparations. Do some profit pushes, fundraise in those pushes, and build the foundation you need. Especially if you just burned the bank with this push.

But well done. For being inexperienced with conquest battles, you guys made water fight for the win. Your team just needs a bit of practice.

I think Lightning deserves better dom leads. Whether they win or lose isn't necessarily a reflection of how good a person Rowan is, even though it may feel like it. I like to think that if Lightning had managed to win, the rest of us could congratulate them without making it about just one or a few people.

Whether they win or lose is bigger than just Rowan, for sure, and the sparks exalting deserve congratulations no matter what.

However, salt is a powerful motivator that cannot be overlooked, even more so in a close fight. Rowan did considerable PR damage. This is not about how good of a person they are, it's about how bad of a job they do and the goodwill they ruined as a Lightning dom (merc lead) representative.

The bank mismanagement issues raised before are also quite relevant, especially considering the rumors that Lightning bank ran out of money and people spent their own to cover. I hope at least this accountability question has gotten addressed in-flight...

I'm a spark and I haven't heard a peep from Rowan since all the drama went down. In fact, from what I saw in the Discords and in the forums this push was mostly led by new dom leads (comicsans, kywren, ern). Here's hoping they manage to push Rowan out or something, because I bet you're right that Rowan has hurt our rep.

Our banker posted a video walkthrough of the dom bank, there were no shenanigans that I saw. So I'm chalking that one up to spreadsheet errors and people trying to start shit.

yes, this is very true. i'm quite certain a good number of the mercs/merc leads helping water wanted to see lightning beat SOLELY bc there's so much salt directed at rowan. the best PR move lightning dom could make rn would be kicking him off the team.

"Lightning" didn't deserve anything, they put in a great effort and made Water work their asses off for the win. I'm heartwarmed to hear that both Sparks and Droplets had a blast this week.

Now, if any particular people are irritated by this turn of events, that would be a cherry on top.

Lightning was in 1st for a good chunk of the fight, and the board flipped tons of times. It was a good fight, we all had fun, they don't "deserve" to lose because of a couple of assholes
