Whenever I look up shipping/fanfic stuff on Google it suggests "lemons" even though no one has used that word since 2007. Anyone else notice this?

probably because that's how folks are tagging nsfw fandom stuff on tumblr now.

NSFW and NWS are usually autoflags for the tumblr censoring system, so folks have reverted back to using lemon as the tags.

I got lemon as a suggestion even before the tumblr nsfw ban so I don’t think that explains it

You're wildly underestimating the usage - people kept using lemon all these years, it didn't mystically disappear just to reappear in the times of need, and that is enough for search algorithms to pick up and suggest

i don't doubt it but i wonder where it's used. i haven't seen it be used on ao3 and tumblr.

It was definitely used a lot on deviantart past 2007 all the way into the early 2010s, but I'm not sure if it's still used today. Don't ask how I know this.

deviantart, fanfiction, and definitely seen it on dreamwidth. (can't speak for pre-purge livejournal)
