Love is in the Air....

(Source- and additional Valentine's here!)

Edit: I have updated the rules:

ADDENDUM TO RULE THREE (3): Because I do NOT want another instance of shit that happened this month, and the shit that happened in @anonrising, Fandom Politics are NOT ALLOWED. This includes, but is not limited to:
  •          Anime
  •          Fanfiction/Fanart
  •         Anti/Proshipping war bullshit
*These subjects almost inevitably bring up Anti/Proship bullshit and there are folks on both sides who might be triggered by certain content, or feel dismissed by various argument points on both sides. As a result, THEY ARE  NOT ALLOWED. This site is for DRAGON DRAMA, not your Pro/Anti shipping bullshit. Take it to fandomwank or fandom_secrets or whatever other platform they're using nowadays.

It's been reaching this point for a few years. Dom battles started getting really expensive with more onsite players, because flights need more exalts to win and more players sell dragons to them. There's also the dom culture that kept asking for bigger raffles and higher payouts. It just isn't feasible to accept 200k+ dragons at a loss. I've heard stories of attendants who were down 40mT of their personal funds after accepting dragons from big battles, and I can only imagine the sorry state of dom banks.

What flight makes people spend 40m of their own funds, so I know to never move there?

Had a friend from Plague that did this during PvW. They were offered bank funds throughout the battle (as were all the receivers), but have simply wanted to use their own money. Bank offered to refund at the end of the battle once totals were calculated, and they declined again saying treasure is of no matter to them.

I really doubt there is a flight that is forcing receivers to use their own money without offering to reimburse it.

this makes sense. i used to organize--it was a lot of work and drama for honestly not a lot of reward. its not a strategy game, just a question of trying to motivate people in your flight to give a shit and hemorrhaging fake money. it was kind of why i stopped logging on, organizing got way too stressful.

i was looking forward to participating as a bystander, so i was a bit sad to see that there's not much going on, but its not really that surprising... the only thing dom ever had going for it was the mass perception that it mattered since the rewards aren't very good, and if that perception is gone, then no wonder the scene is dead.

I want a dom battle where the flights say "keep your money and go fuck yourself" to any oof and just use their internal power to beat the shit out of its opponent. Obviously this would spark its own controversy and drama as you damn well know some individuals will still try to funnel support from oof but I can dream

sa

Just uh..adding onto my own madness here

Both battling flights would have to agree on if pre-boarding raffles/tickets still technically count as oof support even though it's something that happens before the battle, and if buying pre-leveled dragons of the AH would be considering merc-ing/oof support. You know, stuff like that would have to be discussed beforehand but I still think this concept is kind of cool, though unrealistic at this point.

Yeah, the issue here definitely is that you canNOT control what any individual does. Like, awesome that the organizers agreed, but individuals _will_ buy off the AH, and before Light won against Fire, it had been literal YEARS since the larger flight in a battle managed to pull off a win... So this just disproportionally favours the smaller flight.

And that is in itself another reason why dom battles have become so rare -- the larger flight simply has barely any chance to win, so why even try?
