Inside jokes aren't funny when folks start spamming them in public channels, though.

Like, I was in a discord server for Star Wars, and two assholes decided instead of keeping their inside jokes between them, they just took over the channel and spent hours throwing their unrelatable/obscure inside jokes and memes around and cackling at each other like fucking chickens.

It got so bad people just left, and when the mod asked them to take their unrelated inside jokes to PMs, where they should never have left, they threw a fit- and got kicked.

Like... This isn't the same level here, but I do not give two shits about personal inside jokes and memes, and when folks start throwing them around in public and basically pushing people's faces in it, it feels like desperate ploys for attention of "Look at this thing we have because we're so funny and so tightly knit, don't you wish you were a part of this, aren't we clever and funny, don't you want to be friends with us for this?"

No, I don't, in fact, I kinda want to block you.

You can’t block the people that do this in the G1Hell discord since some of them are admins. It’s an auto kick from the discord if you block a single one of the mod team on discord or on-site.

Anon from above with the discord annoyance- EXACTLY, and that's why it's shitty behavior; it's not cool when you make folks HAVE to be subjected to your stupid inside jokes, or leave the community

Big fucking mood. TBH I wish there was a G1 Discord that actually had more accessible G1 stuff rather than the clique community in G1 Hell. Price checks go ignored, sales threads get spammed out, admins ignore most players unless they’re popular, admins mock players on FRD and then do the same annoying shit as them, etc.

Like it’s just annoying that this is the only discord for it and nothing actually gets done beyond high value hatches or stupid jokes, but that’s just my experience there.

Unfortunately, the odds of another G1 discord taking off when this one is run by people tied to the G1 ping list is pretty low.

The new pinglist is a disaster, though. Maybe someone else can step in and do it right!

Hopefully she doesn't mind me sharing this, but I know Hex has talked with a few people including myself about starting up a smaller G1 discord. I'm not sure how well that'll go but I know she's been working on that pricing guide for a bit now and a lot of the members still seem to hold her in a good light despite her not posting as much?

I'm not completely sure on why she's not posting as regularly or what happened there, sucks regardless but whatever.

Honestly the current one isn't that useful. I don't give a damn about the memes, but I do start to side eye how people get ignored on price requests and some of the ones from unpopular folks that do get prices sometimes seem unreasonably low for their colors.

Harsh honest opinion here... her guide is useless and long, my ADHD ass suffered through it.

true, could be better if she chopped it up or set it up as an in-forum guide. I know she said it was WIP but I guess we'll see where it goes.

A new pricing advice server sounds like a dumb idea that'll just die eventually when she doesn't have the time catering to all the requests or get overwhelmed by the numbers. People are just gonna bitch about no pricing advice again after that.

What I've personally seen in g1 hell pricing advice is that people are lazy butts who can't seem to learn how to use forum search engine/ah search.

Most of them just slap a link to 10+ fodder g1s/slap any g1 link and go, "help me price pls uwu", and expect some poor soul to come along to do all the work when they could've either first, at the very least, look at ah sales.
Upon getting overlooked or not getting feedback, people start getting bitchy and throw tantrums on anon sites whining about how g1 hell pricing is useless, when literally ever other fr server, or at least the ones I've seen, that has a g1 channel, rarely do you get people attempting to give pricing advice.

tl;dr, g1 people are usually entitled snooty fucks.

I haven't seen much of this but feel bad for not noticing... I was always there for less-serious reasons like sales or price checks; I was there just to hang out, so maybe this kind of thing slipped me by. For the most part I always felt welcome, but I'm certainly not discounting other peoples' experiences- just that I want to look harder at this rather than skim along.

Tangentially related complaint, but I’ve never been in a single discord where price checks don’t go ignored. I don’t know if it’s that people don’t feel confident enough pricing for others, or if there are too many to reliably keep up with, or if I’m just in shitty servers.

iirc you can block them on site, but not in the discord. Which is fair? Because blocking staff means you're forcing the other staff members to babysit you. Maybe its because I'm not that active but its really not that hard to ignore the posts imo

Nope, blocking any of them on either platform results in a kick from the discord. They've made this clear with other members before.

nitpick but this isn't slander. at best it is libel.

i guess??? but if you are active it's pretty hard to have a conversation or ask a question when there's emoji after emoji and such popping up like some hyped up twitch stream or something. it's intimidating, not to mention overwhelming tbh.

I'm just not seeing it I guess. Ive asked questions before and had prompt answers mid conversation so...idk. Also being bothered by emojis? That's a big part of discord...it's half the point of nitro even.
