They update pretty frequently?

They do small, basic updates of "here's some new fams or maybe a couple monsters" pretty regularly, but actually creating new systems happens almost never. Frankly, if you don't care about familiar bonding/collecting, the updates are really infrequent.

This also isn't helped when the gene updates lately have been so... 'divisive' to put it kindly, where they've failed to excite large swaths of the playerbase.

FR is very disappointing with its updates and it doesn't help that apparently "we are revamping familiar bonding and dragon profiles.... as anniversary gift :)" is happening now. Guess we'll get a new QOL improvement every anniversary now, and that's it.
FR's lore is hilariously bad, every single plot string they start gets dragged out and forgotten (Tidelord anyone?) so that one isn't selling point either.

The lore is the worst thing I’ve ever read. I wish they would hire a writer.

DA Okay but they have....what, a handful of people on the team to do everything? Expecting them to be able to churn out updates more frequently, as well as things like adventure mode and new breeds is .....a bit much, imho. We're lucky we get what we do from them given how few people are actually legit working on these things. This is not a huge dev team guys, with backup teams and outsourced teams and freelancers. This is a handful of people, working on a bunch of things all the time. I'm disappointed in some things too but like...keep your expectations realistic is all i'm trying to say.

yeah and we're saying that FR realistically wont be able to keep up with the pace of the consumer base at this rate and can potentially die off in a few years if they dont adapt

Yeah I think FR will definitely die off in a few years if the admins continue to be incompetent.

I don’t think team size is the problem, I think team composition is. All the good QOL updates didn’t start until they added Kaepora. The main admin group are bad at coding and need to come to terms with that and hire better people if they want the site to flourish.

I wish they never hired Pesticide, almost all they contributed to the site looks like shit. hot take here too, but I wish I knew what Undel was doing nowadays and I wish she would just draw I guess.
She's posting pictures on her twitter constantly about sewing blankets and other sewing adventures, and complaining about wrist pain and carpal tunnel and the likes. I know Undel is the face of the website, but we haven't even gotten an update on the new ancient since March. Is she even still drawing on it? as I know FR, "it's coming soon" can always mean "maybe in like, 2 years like the AH revamp lol"
there's a lot of amazing artists too, but FR keeps falling into the same bullshit all the time. How many apparel sets did we get now that are just "mage like robes in fancy colours" or "sparkly silks"
why can't we get some new concepts? coral armor, stone armor, new weapons that are not explored yet, modernish stuff, nordic stuff, please.

I hate that they set FR in a specific age of technology because so many opportunities for cool modern techno cyberpunk neon aesthetics are lost. I want some TRON apparel!

A lot of the armor and unique apparel just isn't popular with players and ends up being used as alchemy fodder. Look at the prices on the AH

Cursed HC: Adventure mode was Thrage's baby, so to speak. That's why stormlight has never talked about it again.

Remember that Thrage was one of the two original coders.

the question is asking where we see FR in 10 years time. so yes, the team is very small and therefore can't be expected to deliver on all these things that their userbase expects (and we expect it because of what said team has told us about their plans). i wouldn't call us "lucky" - i can't see FR having much longevity if they continue with this same team model.

wouldn't be surprised if the site was dead in a few years
