Kinda still vamping off the grab bag thing. Most people use grab bag raffles to make a profit. It's a horrible thing to actually invest in. I've known a couple players who did the grab bag giveaways with actually 'giving away' in mind, as in they suffer a net loss, but that's not very common. Grab bags are a way to make more money by doing more work engaging with the community. They're not a get-rich solution for people seeking to spend their money wisely. Maybe if you're lucky, a friend will invite you to a giveaway that actually involves no risk and lots of rewards (I did this once, and my friends absolutely loved it, and it was a great experience though it took a lot of work). But if you're joining a publicly ran grab-bag event, odds are very very good that the person who's hosting it is trying to make money off their few collectibles, not give them away. You might be better off just going to the AH and buying the item you want outright.

And usually they mention the bags up for grabs before you buy. If they don't, you're even playing against worst odds, because they're probably REALLY doing it for the money.

I know, slightly off topic-ish. But gosh I wish people could understand basic things like this.
