This gives me flashbacks to when DPPt had just come out and I was like, 15, and thought it was the most clever thing in the world to replace "god" with "arceus" to confound the religious types of the world.

Oh this is arceus’ deal... I never finished that game so I was like “why are we talking about pokemon?”

Yeah, it's... not necessarily readily apparent to outsiders.

Amazingly though, just as real world religions often have contradictions, so does the pokemon ... religion? mythos? I honestly don't know what to call it. But basically, Arceus is god, except that all pokemon evolved from Mew's DNA. And then there's Arceus supposedly making the world, but also Kyogre and Groudon making the seas and continents, which is more specific, but what is the world if there's no seas or continents? Just a husk, really. And again, where does Mew play in? Anyway, uh... make of that what you want.

But back on topic, yeah, it's a fairly rare but not unheard of thing in the pokemon fandom for people to replace 'god' with arceus. e.g. 'oh my arceus!' Usually it's people who are uh. young.

Bless you for the enlightenment, I’m a pokemon go fiend but aside from that I’ve only played varying amounts of the gba games and never read anything so I have NO idea what’s going on (same with FR lore... I’m just here to click things)

It’s pretty goofy to say but I honestly don’t mind it, takes me back to ancient fandom forum days lool
