I'm not "on" anything. I've written up in-depth "how to get rich on FR" posts at least three times on the old anonrising so I'll just summarize this time and if anyone has old links, they can link them. But tl;dr, and assuming you're starting from complete scratch as a brand new user with nothing:

Section 0: The constants.
1) Always keep your eye on the LAH for low-end items you can buy and resell. Knowing LAH allows you to play the market and take advantage of spikes and dips. I recommend picking 5-10 items in your goal price range to start, but you can do more or less depending on your ambition. Once you have more capital in general, you can move up to mid-to-high-end items.

I'm not going to tell you specifically which items to work with because any guide that does so is immediately devaluing those items because everyone flocks to them. As a general rule though, consumable and/or retired items are good. Pick your price range and pick the items you want to monitor.

2) DO NOT EVER SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON ONE THING. Whether that's investments, your dream dragon, an item you've been saving for, whatever. DO NOT spend all your capital. Whatever it is you want can wait -- make sure you leave yourself enough funds to continue making money, and once you have enough to spare, THEN buy the thing you want.

Section 1: Starting capital.
1) Borrow a level 25 from your flight's 25-lending program. Or a friend if you've got one. Or hell, even just ask on the forums to borrow one if somehow you have no friends and your flight doesn't have some form of coli trainer lending program (but I haven't heard of one that doesn't?).
2) Play your choice of fairegrounds games until you have enough to afford a few fodder dragons.
3) Read a guide on how to train fodder.
4) Train that fodder, then exalt it.
5) Sell coli drops on the AH.

Repeat step 4 until you've got a comfortable amount of starting funds. This can be anywhere from 100k to 500k depending on your ambition. (You can also substitute fodder grinding with playing fairegrounds for a few days, but fodder grinding isn't capped and timegated.)

Step 2: The less grindy part.
1) Hunt for deals on ibaz. People who want quick money sell for 60-80% LAH, and you can buy at a decent discount. Also, buy up any cheap gems that you can that are below the current gem rate.
2) Sell any items you buy on the AH at a profit. Sell any gems at a higher gem rate. (No, you don't need a dedicated thread for this, though you can choose to make one if you prefer.)

Side Step: Long Term Investments
1) Once you have a comfortable nest egg, you can start spending small portions of it on retired items you expect to rise in the future. Generally speaking this is festival and/or anniversary items these days, but if there's ever random limited stuff given out at other times, that can count too.
2) Before you invest in an item, MAKE SURE IT'S POPULAR. Check AR to see how people feel about it on the festival thread that inevitably pops up, check FRD, check tumblr or DR, check discords. If something is generally well received, it can be a good investment. Make sure where you're checking is not TOO specialized though -- as an example, plague items are often well-received in plague chats, but frequently unpopular as a general aesthetic. (Not saying they're bad or that people outside plague can't like them, but compare the interest in say, Rotclaws vs the interest in the Companion Comet.)
3) Invest only a comfortable portion of your income that you don't mind setting away for later. This can be 10%, 20%, or even more. Just remember -- whatever you invest, you won't have to flip items, so make sure you're not going to regret it. These funds may not be available to you at a profit for over a year if not more, so be sure before you invest.

Alternatively:
1) Be good at art and make expensive top-of-the-line accents that sell for $$$$. Or just sell your art in general. Your choice.
(Do note: this doesn't work for everybody, and I haven't personally ever gone this route as I'm unskilled af artistically and my strength is more in economics. But for those of you with art skills, this is DEFINITELY a great option.)

Follow the steps above and you'll make money quite easily. The most painful part is grinding the initial funds, but from there, you can pretty easily work your way up. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

i can confirm this works

it takes a lot of boring monitoring day-to-day for some items, but it works

na

I've once gave away ALL my liquid funds for one big item (tbh I've even lent money from a friend for it lmfao) and yes it's difficult to get moneys when you have nothing left. Even when I still had my coli team, just not being able to flip items or gems anymore is very limiting.
So yes, definitely don't give away everything at once.

Regarding accent making:
You don't even need the most popular themes or dragon breeds. I'm mainly creating accents for my favourite breed which isn't that popular. But it's been an easy and steady income for me once I've created a few accents which I can reprint whenever I want. I just make sure my popular ones are always in stock and have at least one copy in the AH. Then I can make gems even if I'm not playing much FR. And all without ping-list/pre-order hassles or creating new content. :D
You need a lot of vaulted gems tho, as each reprint means an investment of 2500g which will take a bit to be earned back...
