They do have an appeals system - people have sent pics of themselves and their RL IDs to FR in attempts to appeal bans and verify identity (for multi-account bans) but it's never helped.

No, that's not an appeal system - an appeal system would have the steps that the banned player needs to take in order to possibly be unbanned obviously outlined (like, if you were banned for X, you will need to do Y). Right now there's only an illusion of an appeals system because there's no steps, some banned players just tried on their own to do something, anything and failed.

They really do.

In a lot of MMO's (Like SWTOR, for example) I was banned for trying to scam the payment system- turns out, their system flagged me because my paypal has my married name, my bank account has my deadname.

(Getting paypal to change your name, even with ALL the documents, is a pain in the ass, and i only plan on doing that ONCE after i get my name legally changed)

I was given an appeal process though- I could show them my ID, my marriage license, as well as my divorce papers, and SWTOR went "Ah, gotcha, paypal. Sorry about that!" and then unlocked me.

Same with WoW- I JUST moved across the country, got back into WoW. Reinstalled it, and logged in, played a bit. Got home later, saw I was banned for logging in on a completely different IP. Just showed Blizz my change of address, and they unlocked me.

FR really needs something like that because their "process" is basically nothing but a smoke screen.

Oh OMG, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding then. It's just that you only mentioned marriage originally so I immediately assumed you were cis and actually talking about your maiden name. My bad.

Then I googled to find that one Tumblr post that goes like "we're one step away from married cis women referring to their maiden names as deadnames", and instead of the post my first result was a Quora discussion that amounted to "oh sure of course you can, it's not like trans people have a monopoly on the word" :/

Lol no worries! Sorry if I came off as a dick, there was misunderstanding on my end, too! Yeah there's an issue of me being trans AND divorced, so I have the deadname, AND the former married name on various accounts and it's SUCH a pain in the ass to get it all sorted out!! Not to mention expensive- it's almost 500 bucks to change your name in CA????? TF?!
