Actually, I think you are reading it differently. They're trying to figure out what other groups they can support without it being turned into "the right way to play the game". Not saying they won't support others. One type they made clear they don't want to support is groups that are organizing stalking strangers' hatches without the user agreeing to it.

A group of people looking to sell g1 dragons and advertise to willing g1 buyers that specify what they want, they actually may be better suited by expanding and improving sales tools they failed on rather than ping lists.
