yea, this. it feels like people heard that noc eggs = $$$$$$ and just forgot to.. actually look into their value. if everyone knows noc eggs are most expensive in the months before NotN and everyone tries to sell them at that time theyre.... going to have a low value....

noo let people buy into the hysteria, i want the higher prices for other NoTN cash cow items. if people waste their time buying chests trying to get eggs all the better for me
yea, IIRC its that and some baldwin-exclusive stuff. most people prioritize chests so they dont brew tons of the other NotN baldwin items. but, yea, most chest drops are worthless because people will open thousands of chests to get eggs
It might depend on what you qualify as "high value" but there are definitely items that are a great return on the investment. As for which ones... I'd rather not give away my money makers, but rest assured they exist.
With the event overhaul last year that made it easier to get chests, this is totally not a surprise to me. I do wish the people who got hundreds of eggs were a little more responsible about the market, but there's usually one person who's dumb about it.
I haven't sold all mine yet so I'm a little bummed, but its only a fraction and I'll probably just hatch them, honestly.
By dumb, you mean the icebergs of dozens or hundreds all listed at once? Yeah, those are annoying. If there's just a handful cheaper than mine, maybe I don't drop my price, just wait it out. You see something like the above though, you have to accept that the floor's dropping and undercut accordingly, accelerating said problem.

I had about 3k-ish noc eggs this year and normally I offload them slowly over the course of May-September, but this year some stuff happened IRL that left me with crippling depression and the inability to function even with basic stuff, so by the time October hit, I still had so many eggs to offload that it averaged out to like ~27 per day to sell them all before NotN rolled around. I've been selling 40-60 per day since, all listed at once roughly once every day or two, and generally around the lowest price if not directly the lowest. I've gone through 800+ eggs and prices have only dropped by about 6-8g, which honestly isn't too bad, and I figured most people had already sold by this point in the year anyway, but I am genuinely sorry if my last-minute offloading has impacted your investments in any way. It really wasn't the intention, and normally I do sell responsibly, but like I said; life got in the way real hard this year. ><
(Honestly with it still being 260+, that's still 40-60+ profit per egg depending on what price you bought at, so it's good enough for me, but I also realize "worth it" RoI levels vary per user, so. >< Hopefully it's not too much below what you were looking for with yours.)
Selling now for small profits still enables me to buy more in December than if I didn't sell them at all, which in turn allows me to have more art commission money for when I eventually have the mental energy to get comms again. It's not a huge profit, but it's still more than nothing. Though honestly I'm not sure I really will manage to sell them all by this point.
