You're correct it was illegal. I was around 12 or 13 then and really looked up to them so I didnt let myself question it too much. It hurt to admit they robbed me because I had asked my parents for some money for the drive and I thought this person was a friend. Artists scamming kids is not that uncommon because living off art is tough and kids are vulnerable. For the troll reading this ;) everyone knows I don't mean artists are all scammers but allowing personal details in sales to appeal emotionally to kids who are emotionally not mature yet is irresponsible of not just the adult artists who know kids are reading their post but of the site since it is for kids. It is ok to make a sales post with personal details on an adult oriented site or your own personal page but not a kid oriented website. Even if you have good intentions or bad never crossed your mind allowing those details to influence your sales pitch to kids on a kids site is wrong
To be honest, I don't like things like that even for adult oriented sites, because adults can be just as vulnerable as children when it comes to charity.
I am thinking about like a decade or two ago, there was at least one (thought I heard of more, but can only really think of one) child who had a lemonade stand to 'pay for her cancer treatment'. She got like tens of thousands of dollars from adults, because she was a pretty little girl who was dealt a hard hand.
Then it was found out, the parents took the money and used it for their OWN desires, AND the child didn't have cancer at all. She was used by her own parents to get money from people who were willing to donate. (I think this may have been at the start of all the 'gofundme' type websites, and so they were in the news a lot, and people were jumping on the bandwagon to get money from people who would see 'cute child' and 'trouble' and 'need money' and open their pocketbooks.)
So, yeah, I am sure that most of the artists on FR are perfectly nice people who do need money. But, sadly there will always be people who will leap on the bandwagon and use sobstories to get money.
Just think of all those people in FRD who would go 'I accidentally sold my superexpensive item for 1K treasure instead of 1k gems' and people would give them 'replacement' items. People are often generous, and that is great. However, at the same time people CAN be scammers who want to prey on those generous people.

You could always slap skins on the parents while they're with you. Extra layer of exalt protection and you don't have to look at them if you happen to be in that tab.
Which flights are the new Dom flights? I don't mean 'join Earth because they're small & get Dom easy', but the flight that has more pushes for profit or fun, or just in-flight bonding.
I see Plague's got a couple of pushes lined up even though they just Conquested last week, but I'm not sure if it's just because of timing?
Ooh, I had to look up the schedule to see what you were talking about. It does look like Plague is trying to regain its former powerhouse status with all these pushes, including a double... will be interesting to see if they pull it off.
In the meantime, I know it's a boring answer, but Earth is really the only other big option. Yes, they get dom every time they roll over, but they also have several pushes planned.
water seems to at least profit push nearly every month and when i was there there was a lot of in-flight bonding. they're also good at keeping forum people involved too bc i didn't have discord
When did Barton's art get changed? I've been brewing 20 times everyday for a year and only just noticed it. The happy little slimes on the front are cute, haha.
a lot of skin and accent artists used a skin preview tool created by user nensec (who is now banned). FR staff claims this tool is "scraping" their database--basically pulling data from FR with the potential to cause server strain, which violates their ToS. so any mention or use of this tool on FR results in removal of said content.

here's a rather interesting exchange between nensec and FR staff regarding the matter.
It's not a "claim." Nensec (as FRTools) has been commenting all over the Saltminer blog posts and they're pretty upfront in saying they are scraping the site.
they commented they weren't scraping the site before being banned, but they started to after, which definitely explains/justifies why staff is being so aggressive in removing links now. (the reason for the initial ban seems silly tho?)
I agree a hundred per cent and the lemonade stand story is a perfect example. And E even if the artists need can be verified verification is invasive. So advertising neediness in a general art sales forum is invasive to the forum members too because it puts a burden of proof on the artist but the burden of asking for the proof on the purchaser. I don't think the artists with "good intentions" are as benevolent as they seem because they are not so much selling artistic skill as they are leveraging guilt while betting no one will actually ask them for proof because it is invasive and embarrassing for both artist and the potential buyer for different reasons
