Vague posting to blow off steam. I really don't like people who bump RPs multiple times a day.

your IP address can also change (if you change ISPs, get a new router, maaaybe when u get a new modem, etc.), so it's possible you might just have a new IP address that was assigned to someone else that got IP blocked.

... or they just blocked you.

Say what you want about the mods here, but at least they don't/can't block folks. They at least let idiots like Rowan show their asses before calling them out or screening their comments.

AYRT

People can block who they want for whatever reason they want, or not read whatever they want- OP originally started this by saying "Why is font changeable on the forums" so that's what I was responding to. Keep the font changeable and just don't read what you don't want to read. What is all this about "evil"?

It's probably because the whole point of posting on a public forum is to interact with other people. So someone who does that in a frustrating way is acting counter to that point, which is bound to get some outsize reactions because it makes it feel like they're being difficult on purpose.

yeaa dunno chief the entire point of having an anonymous community is to be just that anonymous

it rly defeats the point when a mod can just unanon anyone they identify anytime they get annoyed enough

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-05-26 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
idk the whole community was annoyed with someone who seemed like they were stubbornly white knighting Rowan and talking smack about the Water team despite being shown the logs and shit, and whaddya know, it was Rowan the whole time.

Seems less like personal annoyance and "play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

You can be anonymous. If you don't publicly reveal yourself, show your ass, and keep doing it.

Rowan was revealed because of the public look at me and my logs post, combined with trying to argue in poor faith and pretending to be a third party in his attempt to make himself look good.

If you don't do a Rowan look at me post, the most you can get called on is arguing with yourself or trolling.

I'd to anonymously thank staff for not implementing absolutely tiny QoL changes which forced me to finally learn the very basics of using stylus add-on to write custom codes: thank you.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-26 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
what did you change using stylus? just wondering if there is anything i could do to help myself

Where did the rest of this thread go?

There was no thread. I think someone posted a reply as a comment to the main post by mistaks

>Referencing self-harm or suicidal ideation to appeal your account closure or to use the threat of such to compel a Flight Rising Support team member to re-open your account will result in your appeal being forfeit.

Wut?

Re: New rules

(Anonymous) 2022-05-27 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Guess someone tried to manipulate staff by saying they'll kill themselves if their account is not unbanned. Good rule imo.

Re: New rules

(Anonymous) 2022-05-27 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's likely that either someone threatened to hurt themself OR tried to use their self-harm/suicidal ideation to guilt trip staff into overturning a suspension/ban. It's not unheard of, and I used to get that a lot when people tried to ban appeal and I was tasked with reviewing. (not as FR staff, but elsewhere)

Putting the onus of your mental health on the people who banned you is a really bad move. It sucks to get banned but rules are rules and no amount of bad mental health juju justifies breaking them.

thank god theyre adding an explicit rule against trauma dumping. this is a petsite game and its so goddamn disorienting when i see people publicly posting incredibly traumatic and personal things when i open random threads.

from the updated harassment page:

"The creation of threads to facilitate venting or trauma-dumping or using the Clan Profile, Dragon Biography, broadcasts, etc to trauma-dump or vent are also not allowed. Flight Rising is a video game and video game website and we expect content on our site to reflect this fact. Please do not use our video game website or our community as a substitute for professional counseling services. (May 26, 2022)

thankfully they finally added that rule, a petsite is certainly not your place to share your personal traumas

The idea that someone was dumb enough to make that rule needed.

Re: ayrt

If the mods were outing every person that annoyed them, I'd be out. This isn't that. It's one person being disruptive and arguing in bad faith, being called out by the only people who have access to that information. I can see being nervous about what the mods are willing do with that information and all, but I don't see this instance wrecking the whole point of the comm.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-27 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

yeah i feel that this was a special case due to how narcissist and stupid the situation came out to be

Re: New rules

(Anonymous) 2022-05-28 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well I see a lot of beggaring in the Art Sales that rubs me the wrong way. "I'm about to be homeless" ... "I need a therapist" "I'm very sick" so please commission me. I don't think it should be on the forums either for the same reason

Re: New rules

(Anonymous) 2022-05-28 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
There's a culture these days among creatives on all platforms (not just FR) that stating if they're in a dire situation is often the only way they get money as people see it necessary to support at that point out of humanitarian aid. Since art is a luxury and not a necessity, it's not exactly easy otherwise unless you already have a strong backing of demand and know you can get the comms you need. I've had to rely on that before elsewhere for reasons to get by at some points in my life.

That SAID, I agree that since FR has these new rules, it definitely should be moderated more, and artists can change their wording to something more vague such as "emergency comms" or "i need some extra help this month" without sharing too much and still falling in line with the rules.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-28 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The comment you were responding to was purely about the suicide threat in ban appeals, not the over sharing rule.

And honestly, saying I need money to pay rent or medical bills due to hard times is hardly the same as the people sharing deep personal details in the general forum.
