Oh yeah lol I reported that thread too.
Honestly seeing how people commented in it just made me lose even more faith in the FR community.
"We should make a religion (read meme) out of this" stop being insufferable for a min

Skin Approval AI

(Anonymous) 2021-11-11 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I just love when people think AI doesn't have its own set of bias based on how it is programed and what is fed in. This person also seems to think it could learn to spot anything rule breaking. I guess people forget about folks trying to sneak stolen art or pokemon etc into their skins.

https://web.archive.org/web/20211111130221/https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/sug/3073797

This approval can't be done objectively or by a machine I don't know why people think it could be. Every piece has to be considered on its own because that's how art fucking is.

An AI could help judging skin and accent coverage and looking how many pixels are covered with #000000, making it too dark. And that would be it.
You can't tell an AI to look for excessive gore (think, literally guts spilling out) drawn for example if there are as many art styles as there are accent artists.

an accent approval AI sounds like a good way to get all desert skins flagged for nudity, if tumblr is anything to go by

God I might have de-anoned myself but I absolutely hate that ignorant saying that 'algorithms are perfect and unbiased': they are not.

You just have to look at the coli captcha and see how awful it is, an actual bot might have an easier time actually to click faster on the dragons than a human that first has to orientate itself and make out of the garbled mess of color an actual dragon shape.

Re: Skin Approval AI

(Anonymous) 2021-11-11 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, an AI/Algorithm would potentially be good to run skins through for coverage and things that are 'static', such as checking for pixels outside the lines, too dark pixels and so on.

But things like 'is this too gorey'? nope, that takes a human. The type of AI that we get from Iron Man, where it is practically a human in computer form, as far as I know, is extremely far off in the future, AIs, now, use a set of rules, which would mean that red would really be banned using an AI (as it would have no ability to determine, is this blood, is this hair, is this a flower? Humans have trouble determining that on some images).

Re: Lair/Den size increases

(Anonymous) 2021-11-11 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the main difference is that someone who comes in and fills up their dragon with cheap dragons, as you said, might not stick around, which means those dragons will quickly 'starve' and thus stop having hunger ticks.

However, that person who has been here 5 years, completely maxed their lair, and will buy more lair slots as soon as they are available, are going to stick around, which means that their lair of 210+ dragons are all, usually, having hunger ticks, being fed, then having hunger ticks again.

Which is why I think they do focus on people with maxed lairs, because they are likely to stick around and be 'part of the problem' (not a real problem) with server load. Because it isn't just five extra spaces, it is the OTHER dragons they already have and all the other spaces they can already fill up with dragons, and adding an extra five spaces just adds to that issue.

As for the hunger ticks at rollover, I am not sure how well that would work, but I do know that they did once (at least I have heard this) all dragons ticking down at the same time, but it got too much for the servers, so it could be that even doing a solid 'three ticks down' at rollover might be too much for the server to handle.

honestly wouldn't surprise me if Lucky2526 is a multi who is just trying to cash in on the community's habit of meme-ifying any quirky user and spending thousands on dragons associated with them. they're now auctioning off all their lair. stonks.

I guess you can also add that they seem to think that "machine learning" is literally a machine learning what to do on its own and not a type of a computer algorithm...

I don't think they understand how tech like this works at all.

Suspense

https://i.imgur.com/AqTwY9F.png

Never seen a gem seller expect tips before (note how they didn't put in any gems into the trade, as though waiting for me to add more tr). The rate stated on their thread was 1:1000 so I wasn't underpaying them.

Re: Suspense

(Anonymous) 2021-11-12 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I traded with them on 1st November going by my CRs and there was no mention of a tip then? So whatever happened, it's new.

Thanks for that, adding them to my "do not buy from" list of sellers.

I tip artists and dom shop sellers, not gem flippers.

Re: Suspense

(Anonymous) 2021-11-12 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
SA

Looked at their posts and apparently they're collecting gems for a dom bank, it looks like, but they're demanding tips for their service.

Still seems skeevy- don't volunteer your time to help your flight if you think you DESERVE/HAVE to have payment for it.

Re: Suspense

(Anonymous) 2021-11-12 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
According to their thread, people trading for more than 1kg should tip. But honestly...buddy...you're the one setting the exchange rate in your thread. If you think the rate's too low, increase it. People will still trade if they like your rate, and if they don't then your rates aren't competitive.

Their entire thread is kind of...weird. This bit really caught my attention:

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/537823687181729853/897319258743255040/line.png

So if you want to make a big trade, you have to tip AND you have to wait longer?

That's all the more skeezy, IMO.

"This is for 0 profit, but you can tip"

and

"requests of 1kg+ should tip." With "should" in red.

Make up your mind, you shithead.

(Also, the whole "Dear Leader" thing is pretentious af)

Re: Suspense

(Anonymous) 2021-11-12 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
omg, was I part of the reason for the red as I traded 2kg in the regular gem trading way without even reading their thread? I just, y'know, opened the post to check if they are online, if they have gems, what is their ratio and then just threw a CR lol

Re: Suspense

(Anonymous) 2021-11-12 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
What I find really wild is that they say they'll deduct a gem if they have to get out a calculator... the rate is 1:1000, what's to calculate? You just add or take away three zeroes to the end of the number. Who the hell has to use a calculator for that?

*clears throat* me...

I often don't trust my brain when it comes to things like this, so I tend to use a calculator for even the simplest math..

That said, I have a calculator on my computer and a nice button on my keyboard that brings it up... so it is easy for me to get to it.
