I think "Imperial breed change/release is and remains a firm Kickstarter-backer reward only. If a backer chooses to breed their imperial dragons or trade their scroll to other players, that's their choice." implies no eggs either because those would fall under release.
The wording is a very definite no. The further release of imps in any way is off the table. The only imps will remain the ones scrolled and their offspring.
Seems like a pretty damn firm 'no more ways to get g1 imperials except buying an already scrolled one or a scroll from another user' confirmation to me.
