I've personally never understood the limited runs, either. The limited runs are often priced higher from the get-go by the artist, and then retired. If I want one after initial slots or time has passed and an option of reprint doesn't exist, I'll take my money elsewhere - meaning I have to go to a reseller, and naturally, me wanting an accent that is no more printed ia raising demand, thus the value of an item.

If limited run has an option of sending blueprint + some gems, I'd go to the artist even at the markup, but most of then are shooting thenselves in the foot by refusing to print single copies. I understand the need to be truthful about there being exactly X copies, but then it's natural someone else is getting the profit after. It's exactly the same as limited run IRL figurines being resold for lots later.

I get cycled tho, why is THAT not the norm? Cycle your UMAs depending on date, season, pushes, battles, anything IRL that occurs yearly (or bi-yearly) and you solve the "perma slots taken ew" by making a pinglist that is NOT slotlist (so how hatchery pinglists work) and while you do lower FOMO, people will probably still want it now, rather than wait for next cycle.
Do more cycles, best pf both worlds!
