Again, just to reiterate as I have a few times in this thread, I have zero problems with people blocking me (and as a bonus, you won't even lose future sales from it since I've got no plans to buy any accents ever again). I literally have encouraged that elsewhere in the thread if it'll give people peace of mind. I've also actively encouraged (as in the OP) people to undercut me and just sell their own copies.
If you don't want your accents resold, don't make them limited, and keep a copy or two (or a few more if it's in high demand at the time) on the AH at normal price after the initial printing. It really is that simple. There's no reseller market on things that aren't limited in quantity because it's not practical to sell an accent for profit if there's other copies of the exact same accent available for base price. Do that a few times and the resellers will avoid you because it's not a profitable market. Bam, problem solved, and as a win-win bonus, more people will get to use your art on their dragons (since you've implied that that's your goal in selling your accents).
ayrt me: people are treating me like their personal money machine only to grab profit from me, even going so far to talk about me like an object in DMs you: well you better start acting the way I tell you so you can avoid the problem of people acting like complete asses for no reason with zero respect
Super reductive version: you: if you get blocked it's your fault, people are assholes, and I don't want scalpers reselling my shit me, having no way to stop people from being assholes or control the behaviour of anyone but myself: yeah, like I said, I'm totally cool with being blocked. that said, if you wanna solve the reselling problem, you can do that pretty easily with this one crazy trick dentists don't want you to know keeping your accent prints unlimited. and hey, bonus, then you get more people using your accents as you seem to intend.
Less reductive version: I can't control the behaviour of assholes, nor am I the kind of person your comment is about, so I don't really have a whole lot to say on that matter. Sure, I could say something like "I'm sorry people have been dicks to you," but then I run the risk of sounding like a sarcastic, patronizing asshole since there aren't sincere-tone-indicators on the internet (or the ones people have tried to start haven't caught on). Similarly, I have no experience with having read chatlogs where my name is synonymous with riches, so I can't really speak to the emotions involved with that. I have my own opinions on whether "reselling my accents" = "objectification," but again, I haven't been in your shoes, I don't have your experiences, so me chiming in on it? Not really helpful at best, potentially making you more miserable and also starting shit more realistically.
So rather than take the risk of coming off as an asshole (as a few things I've said HAVE been interpreted as such thus far in the thread), I had figured I'd avoid the things I didn't feel I had a reasonable background to address and instead just address the parts of the post I directly had comments on, and offer a simple solution that should reduce (or possibly even eliminate) the scalping behaviour. Please note, however, that nowhere in the post (nor in any post I have EVER made) have I said that treating people disrespectfully is justified. I offered a solution to the scalpers to you, explained why it would work, and mentioned the added bonus of (as you put it) "people enjoying my art and wanting it on their dragons" also getting benefit from it. That's... pretty much it, no endorsements of assholery anywhere.
Because yeah, I don't endorse assholes. Full stop, end of story. I just also am a liiiiiittle bit wary of addressing things like that because of how some of the comments I've made earlier in the thread have been misinterpreted through poor wording on my part, and as such, had hoped to address only what I felt I reasonably could without making an ass of myself. My apologies if that turned out to achieve the reverse effect.
so.. because you un-anon'd yourself. are you okay tigercule? like whats going on that would prompt this post to begin with
you've experienced the ~lulz salty drama~ on the old anon com before. why go through it again? defending your own actions never ends well on an anonymous site
You know what, I kind of have this gut feeling too reading through the posts of the thread. It's pretty defensive, over-articulated, and weird. Why would someone do this to themselves unprompted and on purpose on a drama site of all places? Especially given the rancid history of people un-nonning themselves on unpopular or controversial topics? If they stayed anon I would have just figured a salty anon but to show your face? Yeah I get that they want people to block them if they don't want to interact with OP but to do it themselves is just.....bro, are you okay?? (assuming OP is the person they're even claiming to be anyway)
