Can I just say I adore the image chosen for rerising this time around. I feel it perfectly encapsulates my thoughts and feelings over everything.
Last few months really had me thinking of this lol.

+1 same the whole world is kinda in the shitter now so sparkledragon drama is probably not on the highest priority right now for most people

I'm trying to find a house for my sister and me but she is just so done with it. i ask for her opinion on houses and she's just like, 'it's okay' or 'i like it enough.' Then she tells me she just wants a house and doesn't really care what we end up with, she doesn't even want to tour them with me. I feel like i should just stop asking and just go with what i want at this point but then am i just asking to hear about it down the line? (probably lol) ughhhh
FR is where i've trained myself to redirect when i feel like doomscrolling. it's my happy place
The only bigger drama lately was the Cirrus thread staff error. Which isn't really the kind of thing we get on.
It's 2am here and it's just cooled down enough in my kitchen to cook. I'm throwing a big pan of chicken and veg stew on right now so we'll have leftovers for the next couple of days. Heatwave is set to break on Monday / Tuesday. Wish me luck that I've not melted into a greasy puddle before then!

1) tell her you understand this process can be over-whelming/exhausting (it probably has been for you too)
2) would like to make the house buying process a collaborative effort between the both of you so that you both end up in a place you'll be comfortable in and enjoy
3) are willing to take the lead and do a lot of the legwork on this if she doesn't want to but that it has to be with an understanding from her that, while you can keep some of her preferences in mind, you're not her nor are you a mind reader and that you might end up picking a house that has more things you like than things she likes.
if she's not cool with that then she needs to step up and participate.
the communication part is key though. just be honest with her.

that stew sounds absolutely delish, nonny. best of luck beating the heat!! ive been surviving with the "caveman" method AKA keeping my blinds and curtains closed during the sunny hours to keep the heat out. its been surprisingly helpful!

We also keep curtains closed during the day - along with the house having thick stone walls it does help a lot. During the night once it's cooler outside than in, we open as many windows and doors as we can to get a good cross-breeze going.
But last night the outside walls were radiating so much heat I think we could have fried an egg on them if we'd been able to somehow defy gravity.
May you comfortably survive until the heat breaks, nonny!

This is excellent advice! Also... is the two of you living together a long term plan, or is one of you planning to move out and get your own place within, say, five years? The person who is planning to stay there the longest should probably have more say.

:sob: it's 106 F here and this IS our heat wave breaking. (It was 117 last week.) There is a possibility that it may drop below 100 this coming week for a couple of days and we are all waiting in fear and dread lest thinking about it jinx it.
I'm only now realizing that's Ryan Reynolds because of that URL lol
for real tho, it's super annoying. doesn't help that she's the "don't pick my popular fandragons" type.
Seems they knowingly used AI art in their banners for a thread (and defended their use of AI images by likening themself to Robin Hood), ultimately resulting in the entire thread getting removed. Now they've created a vent/call-out post in FRD about it.
