Why does that last one (seaside sundries) look like the hatchling is wearing a muzzle
like am i stupid is it supposed to be something else that im just not seeing

i would love to know what that's supposed to be if not a muzzle (on a BABY no less), i genuinely can't think of anything else it would be

Not the artist, but it looks like an ornamental bridle, like you might see on carousel horses or the like.

I actually think that might not even go through as a custom, because it might hit the inappropriate apparel for a hatchling rule.

it looks like a carousel horse bridle with a funky octopus beak to me! im not sure what the intent was tho lol

I usually don't look at all of the submissions to avoid inevitable disappointment (and i don't want to be tempted to buy a boatload of umas afterwards) and god I wish I kept to that right now. That first one would have looked SO GREAT on my fathom hatchling.
