no, yeah, i agree there was a miscommunication. i had even asked several of my friends to circle parts of an arm that are the "hand/wrist", and it was nearly unanimous that on hearing "hand/wrist", they circled the hand and the wrist (going no further than maybe a little bit further up the forearm). the only one who did something different was the person who has the most trouble with english, who only circled just the wrist itself on being told to circle the "hand/wrist".

it's one of those "words have meanings" things. staff saying one thing and then doing something beyond the realm of expectation isn't just confusing to people who know the english language well, it's potentially most confusing to ESL individuals who may lose the most understanding in translation. (not assuming that all ESL people wouldn't know words, but everyone's learning/memory is personal and online translators are imperfect.)

i think about this short all the time to remember that english is just not easy, even when you think you're being clear. (warning: it contains an ESL person 100% unintentionally telling someone to die due to miscommunication)
