I see where you’re coming from, and I also see why people are uncomfortable with it.

I think it’s roughly equal parts the perceived lack of effort and the discomfort with current AI image generators. FR has a big population of artists, many of whom follow the AI copyright debates and are unhappy that their art may be being used without their permission or compensation for someone else’s profit. So seeing that happen with a different AI image brings up a lot of those objections.

Additionally though, people tend to buy art dragons because of additional perceived effort that’s been put into them. I won’t deny that there’s some knowledge involved in getting a generator to spit out the image you want, but it’s nowhere near the time and skill it requires to make an art piece like that from scratch in the first place. It’s not even in the same order of magnitude of time. So no one really wants to pay art dragon prices for dragons with AI images. I recall the dragons in question are XXY G1s, so there’s reason to price them higher in the first place, but even so.
