Then it doesn't matter how busy or available you would have been, that's too much work for one person and it never would have been done on time anyway! Other flights have multiple volunteers for graphics, and different deadlines for concepts, sketches, and finished works, and the final deadline is at least a few days before the start of a push.

You're not being criticized for having a life outside the game. You're being criticized for the poor planning and organization by your team.
