It very well might be, but a brief history of the name.
Way back in the early 2000s, I found a game called Morrowind and fell in love. I played it extensively, modded it, created mods, and got into a community of other modders. I became friends with one of the others, and together we created companions. I created the actual companions in game and she named them. Hers was Tavin Bellansour and Mine was Jemadar of Caer Salis.
It took like 11 years before someone asked me if the name was a reference to Star Trek, and I couldn't really answer, because while I watched the original, I never watched any of the spin offs. I do know that she was into things like that, so that is why I said it very well could be.
I use it and Tavin as a way to remember our friendship (she went through some really tough patches and we lost touch) and remember the joy I felt in those days.
