even if babpuff is being honest that they were stepping down before stuff was posted to SMR, that doesnt explain their actions leading up to it imo.
in the world where no SMR post existed yet and they planned on moving why did they: - think 18+ channels were appropriate for an official server - not explain why 3/4 mods were stepping down - take no measures to prep for replacement mods - think a vague countdown before deleting massive parts of the server, SFW included, would be appropriate
at absolute best, this is an official flight server where 3/4 mods were incompetent. at worst, they're trying to use timing to wave away the blame.
I can agree with that. You'd figure that if a large portion of the mods were stepping down, you'd want to open up mod applications beforehand so that you're not short-staffed, even for a brief period of time. I don't know what the norm is like for Discord servers when this happens, but that's just IMO.
Perhaps it's just that I don't like to assume the worst, but I'm of the opinion that this was just out of incompetence/not thinking things through. I've seen a lot of Discord servers where the mods/admins didn't really know what they were doing (I've seen a few servers collapse due to this), and I'd just assume this is another one of those cases. "Oh hey, why don't we make a NSFW channel? It'll be fine so long as it's behind a role!" Without realizing it may conflict with the ToS.
Very much this. I had never spoken to any of the 3 mods personally, as Bab & Saku always felt extremely clique-y (their discord statuses had references to each other, their glitter bombs seemed almost exclusively within themselves) while Jay wasn’t that active during the hours I was on.
No prior announcement was made to let us know they were stepping down. I’m going to assume they did inform the other mods, but in general the rest of the LFD, unless close to them, was clueless.
The countdown thing was in terrible taste and has already been revealed, so I won’t go much into that.
I wasn’t online when the Great Nuking happened, and from the announcement one of the remaining mods made, it was carried out by at least one of the previous 3 mods, as all current had absolutely no say in it. The nuke was caught everyone by complete surprise and was never addressed, even as they continued their stupid countdown.
After that, they all dipped. So yes, their leaving to vacation in Earth probably had nothing to do with the LFD imploding (I remember getting a ping from Jay in the pixel library before all this went down stating their intention to move). Does that make them completely innocent, ‘there are two sides to every story’ victims? No.
And for what it’s worth, the frustration I’ve seen from the LFD in general is not about the removal of the NSFW channels, given that half of the users didn’t even know we had one to begin with, but with the absolute no warning, no acknowledgement, no nothing nuking of every single channel that had mentions of said NSFW channels.
So they can cry and play the victim card all they want, but the truth is that the shit that we’re most upset about was still brought about by them, and unless they can prove otherwise, I say good fucking riddance.
DA minor correction: there's no such thing as an "official" discord/server. All discords are not affiliated with flight rising and thus inofficial.
And tbh i don't get the fuss. Even without a role, you need to explicitly consent to seeing 18+ channels on discord. It's not my job as an unrelated adult to make sure parents have done their job in raising their kids.
If kids want to see boobs etc on the internet, not having an 18+ channel where you need to consent at least once (if it's behind a role it's twice) isn't gonna deter them.
... Is there a censor that prevents t*ts being submitted in a comment? :/
You seem to be missing the main point. Flight Rising doesn't allow Discord servers with 18+ channels to be linked onsite. Regardless of your personal opinion on 18+ channels or how big/small the server was, it's against the Terms of Use.
